Knicks and Amar'e Stoudemire are making progress on 5 year, max contract, sources say. Framework of deal in place, talks continuing today.

For the love of everything good, right and fluffy in this world do NOT let this signing lead to LeBron or Wade going to NY. KthxBai.

Nothing without Nash? What a ludicrous statement. Amare is a dominant post player that can pretty much score at will. Does Nash have to take some credit for getting Amare open looks? Well, of course. But does that mean Amare is not one of the top-5 offensive power forwards at his position? Who's better? Bosh? Yes. Dirk? Yes. Then who? Boozer? Duncan? Offensively, not a chance. I'm just saying that stating he will be "nothing without Nash" is a dumb thing to say.

Knicks and Stoudemire working on 5-year deal worth nearly $100 million, sources say. Another team chasing Amar'e believes he's off board.

Hmm... I wonder if he didn't want to come here. Him and Yao always seemed to butt heads since their rookie year.

I don't think it would be a wise choice to spend money on bringing David Lee back when they just signed Amare Stoudemire. Neither one of them is a real Center.

No way they keep David Lee if Amare is signed! That would just bring unnecessary drama because of the log jam at power forward!

Interesting that they are working on a contract with Amare, yet Chris Bosh is on his way to meet with the Knicks...I bet their offer is on the table for Amare and they offer Bosh a contract. If Bosh doesn't seem too interested, then I bet we hear news of Amare shortly thereafter (just not official until 7/8).

Don't forget Amare's best years were when he teamed up with Marion. Amare kills when able to play C, Lee is strong as PF, and their games compliment each other very well. Lee can guard the tougher F/C assignment each night.

Amare about to complete a deal with NYK...at least that's why I think Chad Ford stopped his live chat.

well if wade gets bosh, and lebron thinks leaving cleavland might be best for him, amare would be hands down the best player lebron has ever played with. hopefully bron goes to chicago, i think playing with rose and noah is better than playing with lee and amare or with harris and lopez.

I think the Knicks would be better served signing Amare (with Lee), possibly leaving money to get other pieces. Just sign one max player, and leave at that to build the roster.

They should also look at players, like Mike Miller, Anthony Morrow, Randy Foye, Kyle Korver, Ronnie Brewer, and maybe Richard Jefferson.

Re-sign players, like JR Giddens, Earl Barron, and Bill Walker. Sign someone, like Joel Anthony, Rasho Nestrovic, or Kyrylo Fesenko.

The Knicks might be in better shape than I thought, remember the East isn't terribly tough to win, especially with aging Boston and Cleveland in limbo.

Great news. Amare is overrated and injury prone. Knicks go back to the lottery and Rockets might land a top 10 draft pick by swapping with the Knicks, next year.

    Something big could be happening...

Gambo620 Could be a shakeup in NBA Free agency, hearing one of the big 3 wants to play with Amare! Could D-Wade be leving Miami?

Wade also having a meeting with the Bulls AGAIN with agent so could it be Lebron?
