He should ONLY come back when he's 100 percent. It's pretty much a fact that all the previous players that have come back from this type of injury didn't allow themselves that 110 percent recovery, thinking that if they can shoot a layup that they are ready to some back. No one wants to sit and have their name tarnished as the typical "injured player with a big contract."

Amare already came back too early last year, and he paid for it. It would be best for him to wait out a couple more months. It's not like the Suns are going to need him THAT bad. I'd rather the Rockets play the Suns in the West Finals with a healthy Amare, that way we can show everyone that Yao has been and always will be the best player out of that draft.

Sadly I doubt he'll be the same either. It's hard to overcome an injury and play well. It's damn near impossible to play better than he did before his injury.

Hopefully Amare can progress and get better .

Huh? It isn't just about jumping ability. Stromile Swift has jumping ability. It's about first-step explosion on offense and being able to stay in front of your man on defense.

Lack of talent? The fact of the matter is if you aren't athletically gifted enough you simply cannot play in the NBA. How does that prove there is a lack of talent?

Dog****? Don't count Amare out yet. McDyess had 2 major setbacks after his microfracture surgery and has been very effective the last 2 seasons. Who's to say Amare can't do that, or be even better since he's younger?

Stoudemire's still young. I think he'll bounce back. Also remember, he's going up against slower centers guarding him, and that even at 80-90%, he can still dunk on most anybody.

If he had a 17 inch vert....He wouldnt be in the nba

Bird, Morrison, Divac, Manute Bol, dare i say YAO!? (Given if you have 0! athletic abilty then your just a bump on a log...Thats not the point)

He's been an effective bench player! Check his stats and tell me how much worse he is now that he cant explode off the ground. If he had extreme talent it wouldnt have been as devasting. For example: If Yao had the surgery, would his number go down THAT much...maybe 5 points...a couple of boards.....Not 10+....
Here you go...Mcdyess's stats before and after:
    Best 2 seasons before surgery:
FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
    .471 .111 .680 3.4 7.4 10.7 1.6 1.46 2.30 2.76 3.50 21.2
    .495 .000 .700 3.4 8.6 12.1 2.1 .61 1.46 2.31 3.10 20.8
    Best 2 seasons AFTER surgery:
FG% 3P% FT% OFF DEF RPG APG SPG BPG TO PF PPG
    .513 .000 .656 2.3 4.0 6.3 .9 .60 .68 1.21 2.60 9.6
    .509 .000 .557 1.9 3.4 5.3 1.1 .56 .59 .93 2.70 7.8

    DOG****!!

Amare looked weak tonight wearing a #1 jersey. He's not even the same, his jumping is so slow. It looked like he was jumping in slow motion compared to before his injury. I hope he turns into the next Shawn Kemp in couple of years. He should just retire.

I don't wish injury on any player and I hope he returns healthy.

But the guy has always rubbed me the wrong way...like when he discounted Nash's first MVP by saying it was actually a team award given everything HE did.

Then I see him on NBA TV this week in Germany at a cheese store...he goes in and asks to sample some cheese, then after he puts it in his mouth, he makes an grossed-out face, walks outside and spits it out on the curb, telling his friend he should "try" it also...all this right in front of the small store's owner. Although, I liked the owner's response...(in broken English)..."well, not everything is cheeseburgers"

Don't forget when he rolled on the bench laughing hysterically when Yao got crossed over by Marbury.

Or when he named that moment to be the best of his rookie year (After he won ROY, and hit a game winning 3 in the playoffs).

Or when he made a dunk in the next year's playoffs, did 10 pushups to show off, and then bricked the crucial free throw.

Sorry, I just find it very hard to feel sympathy for him. He is the anti-Yao. He laughs at Yao, and now I laugh at him. HA HA HA.

    This.

I always hoped that he and Yao could develop a friendly rivalry or something after the ROY battle, but whatever. Thank God we got Yao and not this low-class Kemp clone.

I never liked Amare, it's a shame for him that he might not be good anymore... but I couldn't give a rat's [buttocks] about him. He got paid.. he's fine. Not like he got injured and have to live under a bridge.

Tough luck Amare, life isn't fair.

i never liked amare either.. since he always seemed a bit too arrogrant. but i guess that was his upbringing. his father was awlays in jail or something his mom probably doesnt have much class either.. so i cant really blame him 100%.. but i never wish injury on anyone.. especially he was always really FUN to watch.. definately one of the most fun players to watch in the league... oh well he has his millions and maybe can become a decent player still but yea for some reason i think he might be done being the all-star he was.. its a shame since his talent is rare... i thought he had the potential to be HUGE and change the way PFs play..

he needs another year. that's the bottom line. he should just sit in the gym for the next year and work out like a beast. no running or jumping at all. the injury created by the microfracture procedure will heal eventually.

being someone who has had the procedure (as well as 2 ACL reconstructions) I know that doctors don't know everything. I certainly believe they don't know everything about this procedure and rehabing it. we need to get stem cell research going so we can do away with this horrible procedure and regrow the cartilage ourself.

the suns might as well ruin his career now and completely squander their max contract if they push him to return this year. let the guy rehab another year and get his weight back on him. he clearly hasn't been working out if he has lost all that weight.

I hope he makes it back and I certainly hope he is humbled.

I suspect you're right. That they tried to let him play last season says a lot about their stupidity regarding bringing players back from injuries.
