Dunk of the year? No. Most disappointing dunk in relation to the degree of props it was given by the poster? Quite possibly.
I like the fact that Tolliver really challenged the dunk and went for the big-time block. If you watched the game, he made a huge block sometime prior to this on what would have been a Grant Hill dunk (and yes it was already rare that Hill was really going for the dunk these days). The dunk was a part of a three point play that brought the suns back.
Not every decent dunk is a dunk of the year candidate. Brewer's dunk over Fisher, and Wade's dunk on Varejao are 1 and 1a for DotY. Besides, Tolliver could have easily just let him go, but he tried to play defense instead. I can't fault him for that.
I thought his dunk on Richard Jefferson was better. <object width="640" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/WW7yS-SdvjY&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/WW7yS-SdvjY&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="640" height="385"></embed></object>
This was great. Also couldn't have happened to a better victim (who STILL acted like he was shot out of a cannon... no dignity. )
No kidding. I'm more impressed by a blocked dunk than dunking on somebody. That takes way more skill.
Tolliver got dunked on but he has been playing very good as of late. He's a Center but he was bringing the ball up court a few times last night.
