i haven't re-read the thread, but i imagine the house like a lot of houses in neighborhoods i've seen outside of texas where there are no fences between the yards. none my parents three houses in the chicago area had fences. based on the op, it was from the house behind them, so she easily saw him without having to trespass on his property.
I haven't read every post in here, but here are my 2 cents. I think if you got startled and sort of acted a little dickishly, that's understandable. It happens when someone surprises you and maybe that just sets your sensor off a bit. Where you could have fixed it, didn't and, as a result, probably came off as a jerk was when she was in her backyard and you didn't diffuse the situation. When she spoke with you again, you had the chance to say, "You know, you startled me and I probably acted like a jerk. Sorry about that." At that point, you could start a real dialogue - find out how long she had lived there, ask about her kid, etc. Not doing that is more of an issue to me than blowing her off initially.
Roxran, how in the hell are you going to survive the apocalypse when women and children can invade your security perimeter?
If I saw her around, I would have approached her, but apparently if she lives there, she is a hermit crab, only coming out during the summer solstice. . .I really don't think she lives there, why not come out and say Hi my name is hermit crab, I don't really live at this house, my auntie does, but I'm trying to "acorn" this form, help me out...I mean if she would have introduced herself before trespassing, I would feel different, and would be more receptive. . .As it was, no. In hindsight, I did the right thing. I have a good relationship with all the other neighbors who respect property, and that is good enough for me. One more day and the privacy fence will be built.
Don't worry,. . The privacy fence will include razor wire strategically placed. I'm also utilizing cameras, and perimeter intrusion detection devices. This will never happen again. This was a wake up call, I have been a little lax with security. The castle doctrine will be in effect. . .No more warnings!
