I'll admit that I'm not yet sold on Harden as far as leadership goes, but he doesn't necessarily have to be our leader.

I would say Parsons is more so the face of this franchise, and if we lock him up long term he could very well emerge as our overall leader.

I wouldn't say Harden is selfish though. Yes, he will hold on to the ball for 15-20+ seconds and then throw off a bad shot from time to time- but there are countless times where he passes up on a good shot so he can get his teammates involved.

I just think his decision making is a little off sometimes, but that will likely be rectified as he gains more experience in the NBA and with this team.

Either way, he's still a superstar and one of the best offensive players in the NBA. If anything, I'd rather see him work on his defense more than his leadership (though both would be great).

Threads started by the OP are steeped in stupid so whatever, but being at the game last night Harden definitely looked like the leader of the team.

    - He was talking at every timeout.
    - He came to the aid of both Parsons and Garcia when they hurt themselves.
    - And what I liked most - he had a few words for Pop after Pop started screaming at and about McHale.

Of course, he isn't a perfect leader and maybe not even a great leader yet, but he's far from a problem.

He's done good things as a leader.

He organized the get together we had in the off season. Built some chemistry off the jump, making everyone feel a part of the team. I hope he does more things like that.

Assertiveness is needed on the court to balance out Dwight (even though he gets upset at times too). We're competing at the end of the day. Every champion from Jordan to Kobe to LeBron has yelled (and much moreso than Harden) at their teammates on the court.

Overall the team gets along really well from the looks of it. They seem to hang out with each other all the time off the court and Parsons described it as a college atmosphere. Dwight said it finally feels like he's playing on a "team."
