Yep, someone doesn't understand a post and it seems like we're facing a nuclear catastrophe or something. SMH...

and what exactly is OP saying other than harden is an ******* during the game? He's probably totally cool after the game. He also says he doesn't participate during pregame ritual, so what? Everyone has their own pregame ritual. I bet his teammates doesn't give a damn about that, while here it's blown out of proportions.

I think Harden has heeded the call for him to stop holding on to the ball so long on our offense.

In the endgame, he attacked before the defense was set and he made quick decisions to pass the ball if he couldn't get a shot up.

    Signs of progress

LOL. You are trying to analyze an intangible that you cannot possibly know. So I do hope that you are the only one. Comparing Harden to Kobe is just inane.

It's his team, like it or not it ultimately comes down to him. If Casspi has a bad game it will barely be mentioned. As soon as Harden does anything wrong people will be on his back, it happens with being the main man, sometimes that pressure will get to him. I've see him being supportive to his team mates too, unlike some other players in the league I could swear hate seeing team mates have great games.

Sure he has stuff he could work on but he's a hell of a player and is one the main reasons we're a relevant team once again. Funny thing is you could go to a site for a team of a player you would love to have here like Durant or Love and get the same nit picking about anything they can, yet rarely talk about all the good things they do.

No, you're not the only one. I've pointed out that this team's biggest flaw is a lack of leadership, plenty of times. The crap part about it is that this forums will not let me make threads, so most of what I say gets lost in the 8th or 9th page of a thread that I didn't create. This board sucks, tbh.

If you can't make threads, that privilege was taken away for a reason. Don't start crap threads.

And if the board sucks why do you post?

The perception of leadership is results based. Duncan, Kobe and Lebron would all be perceived as poor leaders if they didn't win. Harden may or may not be a good leader, but it is completely impossible for anyone oustsde the locker room to know.

Is this really an issue at all? How much real leadership is actually required of an NBA superstar?

I'm trying to think of great "leaders". Nash, Kidd, and other floor general type point guards come to mind, but I think that's just because the point guards call the plays and they happen to be really good point guards.

Jordan might be the first example that people think of, but that seems to just be a result of super competitiveness.

I think the following is probably true:

    - The superstar in the team needs to be visibly competitive and exerting some sort of maximum effort every game. They get the most touches and have to bear most of the load, and other players aren't going to want to come in and go hard for their 5% if the guy doing 50% is just mailing it in.

    - Real leaders (as in the guys who rally people, mentor people, manages social dynamics) probably tend to be veteran types like the Avery Johnsons on a team, who can actually give some insight into what it takes to have a long NBA career, succeed in playoffs, give you examples of old teammates, etc.

But even if the whole "leadership" thing matters, I can't think of any championship or finals team where a 24 year old could be considered the clear leader. Lebron with the Cavs is probably the closest, and you might make an argument for Wade with the Heat.

    :confused:Dunno... early morning thoughts

Kobe has a lot of darn rings _ SO WHAT'S YOUR POINT...?? Chris Paul has no rings _ SO WHAT'S YOUR POINT...??? and LeBron had to go join Wade who was already a champion... So those are terrible examples. Michael Jordan use to fight his teammates... And LeBron always yells at Mario Chalmers.

This is a dumb @** thread....

    Magic Johnson....

Wade and LeBron also had the benefit of playing in the Leastern Conference.

Your "selfish and less forgiving" leader has more rings than your "better leaders" combined.

Did he take over the game last night? I remember him missing a couple clutch free throws and a layup that PB had to clean up... I also remember in earlier games this year him dribbling around tell 4 seconds on the clock then dish it off to a teammate for the bad shot. Has he ever been been clutch in the last 20sec of a game?

Exactly. MJ was criticized for the same kind of thing. He wanted to win so badly that he was all over his guys for small mistakes. Ever watch Kobe closely? Guys that want to win don't like to tolerate others mistakes. The issue can be when they themselves are making mistakes.
