Howard will never be the dominant force he thinks he is in the post. However he has the potential to be an elite roll man. He has got two excellent PNR ball handlers in Lin and Harden who can feed him the ball and the support of the entire organisation. He has got no excuse really but his ego will likely be his downfall. He really should understand that there is no shame in being primarily a roll man IF he is really good at it. Which he definitely is.

It seems like half the time Dwight stops himself, rather than the defense stopping him & the thing is if he is not going to be a dependable low post player, he's an extremely similiar player to Asik. Yes, Hibbert is one of the best defensive centers but Dwight struggling should be somewhat worrisome as most teams in the NBA have a center who can play decent defense. Physically, he looks ok but he doesn't get the most out of his ability because of not recognizing the right move to make & lacking a variety of shots especially a short jump shot off the dribble. These weaknesses may eventually cost the Rockets games in regular season.

He was already number 1 roll man with the Magic.

maybe we have to accept the fact that he is the new bill russell and not going to have sweet post moves like our legendary big men. 11 trophies, no pressure!

If Howard had a hard time playing against a guy like Yao...he is gonna have a difficult time playing against a guy built like Yao in Roy Hibbert. And Roy is much more agile and just as strong as Dwight. This only shows you that Dwight's "speed/quickness" game is what needs to be improved.

I'm not worried. He is going to have bad games here & there. That is why we need Harden & Lin & Parsons to step up.

Howard played ok still made a impact, he has a history of getting into foul trouble this is why we have to keep ASIK I can't stress this enough. Howard is still a major upgrade because of his defense ability, double teams he draws for shooters, and catching the lob passes which you can tell the team is improving on each game with throwing them more efficiently.

I'm glad he went up against Hibbert 2 times early in preseason, so him and the coaching staff can work on mistakes before the season starts.

This is pretty much it. People remember how much Yao used to own Dwight. You could see with Dwight despite his pivots/spins Hibbert was always there, he didn't have alot of room to operate and you can just bulldoze someone like Hibbert.

He's always struggled with jumbo-sized centers, but today was he was particularly ineffective. Doesn't matter cause Miami lol.

Dwight ALWAYS sucks against bigger centers. Yao used to own him.

I feel like if 10-6-2 in 23 mins whilst making Hibbert a non event as a help defender is a bad game, we're in for a very good season

A cpl of his fouls were just lazy fouls because he knew he had limited minutes, so that didn't bother me

Unless Dwight falls off a cliff, we'll be ok. This is the same guy who had a "down year" last season and still put up better numbers than most of the centers in the league.

    I'm not worried at all.

He'll get better in the post as this thing rolls on and he works with dream and they start fine tuning the kinks in his game. The team will get more used to him as well.

THIS. I was just about to say this. Spacing was terrible this game. I noticed several times where we'd make the entry pass and player cut and bring their man right next to Howard. We'll work those kinks out as the season progresses.

IMHO, both our Cs should concentrate on D and rebounding and triggering/chasing our fast breaks. If we try to feed the low post, we're going to have to watch Dwight shoot FTs. Cue the DO NOT WANT gifs.

Man I have to agree with Kareem about Dwight's basketball IQ(when it comes to offense though)
