Really dislike Howard... would prefer to keep Asik.

I just can't find myself to root for the guy. Besides, he's not coming to Houston... the sooner we realize this and move on, the better.

They traded and then signed him this summer.

They are going to Pay a 37 year old Andre Miller $5 miller a year until 2015. Smart move right?

Ty Lawson signed a near max extention. Going to get paid almost $12 million
A season for 4 more years. (All-star money for a player who isn't)

Though, I would say Asik + Josh Smith is better than Dwight + our PF.

That being said, it's probably not best to think like that. You want the best players and then worry about the complimentary players. That "pf" would be upgraded in year 2.

You have to think like that b/c you need to consider the salary cap implications of any move. If we get Dwight, what's a realistic upgrade for our PF position?

Ryan Anderson. You could also snag Robin Lopez as a backup C to Dwight. Much better team.

Really? Where do you rank our PF's?

Sure, they have high potential, but it is easy to say that if we have Parsons, Harden and Howard, we are trying to win now and in the future.

Morey is a great GM and would be able to upgrade DMO, Tjones, Greg Smith. We would not be worrying as much about the salary cap implications as much as we do now, as well. Morey has stated he would go over the cap if we were to be competing for a championship. Those three guys would be a good reason for us to compete.

Well, what I'd like more than anything is for everyone to shut up about Dwight Howard until the playoffs are over. He's not playing, Omer is. Omer has been the second most important player on our team this year, and it's pretty disrespectful to already be fitting him for another team's uniform.

I'd rather root for Asik than Howard. However, I won't pretend Howard wouldn't be an upgrade. I'd just rather discuss this later.

Ryan Anderson is not a realistic upgrade. He makes $8.5mm/year, and what could we offer that New Orleans would accept?

Asik. That's why he posted it in the Asik thread. NOLA wants to move Davis to PF.

Asik and Dmo for Anderson, Lopez, and a 1st. That works. If we still need to cut salary we could trade Robinson for a pick.

When there is a chance of getting a player like Dwight, you take it. Coming off early off of back surgery, he was still a 17/12 player. That is Asik's production on his better days coming from a guy very much recovering from his injury.

I'm in this camp. Keep Asik. Spend your money on a good power forward that can score on the block.

    Please don't bring Dwight here!

Would love to know how the Rockets war room values Asik vs. Howard, very interesting debate with lots of variables to consider.

It's a good problem to have, I'd be happy rolling with either of them.

You guys need to look at things from NOLA's point of view. They only signed Anderson a year ago, and there's no reason to think they'd give up on him so soon, especially since David and Gordon missed big chunks of the season. And whose to say that Davis and Anderson can't coexist on the floor together?

Honestly, a PF/C rotation of Anderson/Davis/Lopez sounds better than Dmo/Davis/Asik.

Asik loves playing for the Rockets.

He has his deficiencies---hands of stone, slow with the ball in his hands---but he's getting better. Can't help but like the dude.

I wouldn't cry if we did nab Dwight. He's an overgrown child, but we'd be among the best teams in the West. IF Dwight stays healthy.

If Morey can get Howard, he will; but it wouldn't hurt my feelings to nab an elite-ish power forward and go from there. Just keeping this team largely intact, while clearing out the detritus at PF, will take us far.

They don't as evident by this season. And a Davis/Dmo/Asik rotation is much better than the one they have now.

Why nobody questioned Howards heart when he dogged the celtics and cavs on the way to the finals? There were no heart questions when his team was winning 50+ games every year. Howard is a superstar! Superstars help teams win titles. What asik has done is provided morey with an incredible trade chip. Morey can package asik and a young player and get smith via sign and trade after signing howard. With the emergence of beverly and the revival of brooks, they can trade lin for a te or future pick. Its not that hard to move money around and get the guys u need.

As evident by the season? You mean Davis' rookie season where he missed a bunch of games due to injury and wasn't physically developed?

Davis/Anderson/Lopez may be a little inferior on defense (compared to Davis/Dmo/Asik), but they are significantly better offensively.

It depends on how much Smith gets paid. I don't think Morey will be interested if it's anything remotely close to the max.

I'm pretty sure that Les considers Lin to be untouchable.
