There are only two situations where I cringe when Omer has the ball...and both are correctable:

    1. Catching the ball - Hands: I see him in hallways catching tennis balls being thrown at him this summer (didn't it help Yao?)

    2. Layups: At his height the odds are good that he gets better...I mean the shorter you are the worse the odds, right?

Seriously, I do feel this guy is capable of getting better. He has the tools. He has the coach. He has the team.

What this team does have next year that this years team didn't is going into the summer with the same guys and a Rockets agenda in mind. Thats going to be huge for this team.

HUGE I say. Like Asik HUGE

Howard is better than Asik for sure, but we have to pay him more than double than Asik, plus Howard is a drama queen with a attitude problem. I would rather using his money to get a star PF we need badly.

Howard is an offensive liability due to his free throw shooting, and his defensive prowess isn't enough of an improvement over Asik to justify the contract he would demand, the drama he brings, and the selfishness he displays.

You would pay an excessive amount for very little actual extra value along with accepting a ton of baggage.

Not to mention if Asik keeps this up, he's not going to want to go back to the bench. Some team will make him a permanent known starter. He's flexible, shows humility and moderation, a great team mate, no drama, and follows the coach's vision playing whatever offense/defense the coach says.

What more do you want out of a player? Some fans here seem spoiled and I don't think they know how good they have it.

In 2 years, Asik will be off the books and WILL get paid somewhere. Do you want to pay it?

I really love Asik; he is hard hat kind of guy sort of like Scola. Shows up for work every game. Yes, I believe he will get better, especially offensively. He seems durable. No injuries that I can think of. He has put up excellent numbers, almost in Yao territory. He is a keeper. I don't know if Howard would be a good PF. Probably not, no jumper, but he likely wouldn't want that role anyway. Howard is a great athlete, a freak of nature and still has potential for improvement, especially under McHale. The back and the attitude worry me though, and I really want to hang on to Asik.

How good will he be in 2 years? Do you know?

Sure, maybe I would! If he deserves it. I'd rather pay one of our own, a guy with his character, than baby drama Dwight.

But in the mean time Asik is still here for 2 more years.

Since some still feel emotionally attracted.

Which GM will be the first or second to sit down with Howard this summer? Morey will be tripping over his iPad at midnight to talk to Howard and he'll offer the max.

Deal with it. Enjoy Asik while you can.

Don't overpay for role players. That's how you end up being mediocre.

Dude, you must deal with an emotional thread. Silly for you to come in here telling people to shut down their feelings because you know better.

I have no real feelings for the matter. Morey doesn't have feelings either. It's just business and if fans didnt figure that out after last summer and all the players we dumped then I don't know what will.

Yes. Howard at is worst is still much better than asik. If Asik didn't have butter fingers I think he could be a 20-10 guy on our team. There are so many times where the ball hits his hands and he fumbles it.

Dwight Howard would be a PERFECT fit for JLin....
I'm sure if we had Superman, JLin will having elite numbers and would definitely shut up all the haters....but man I really loving Asik now...
Wish we can have them both...ahaha!

Which is why you have so many posts in this thread...

I'd be perfectly happy keepin Asik and using our cap space to upgrade somewhere else, with PF being the main target.

So would I if there was a free agent PF as dominant as Howard is as dominant at the center position.

This really is a silly Thread. Aleron said it well, "Fear of rejection and the homerism caused by confirmation bias creates scenarios where people will try to rationalise nonsense. This thread is a great example."

I like Asik but Howard is a different category. No comparison.

    Agree with you on this...

As I stated before.. Asik is the new Kurt Rambis..

Man i would love to Have Jack play along side Harden.

what if you fall under the minority of wanting Howard but not wanting to trade Asik? unless Kevin Love is walking through that door the idea of bringing in a traditional 4 does nothing for me.

I want up and down small ball with only one traditional big roaming the middle. Spread the floor. Inside-Out Domination...and that would leave us with two defensive studs to deploy this tactic.

conversely if going big tickles your fancy: if Asik and Smith can co-exist as a unit so could Howard and Asik. Those furballs in Memphis would wet themselves knowing they had to face that front line for four games before they were sent packing.

I have kind of glanced through some ideas here to avoid an essay noone will read. but give the pairing some serious consideration.

who did they overpay for? It's a well constructed team. McGee has a bad contract, but they didn't sign him, they traded for him.
