I agree growing a team as a family will get you just as far just look at OKC. They grew as a family and made the finals last season and beat the big 3 to win a Championship.....

Asik is a hard worker and is improving, but he doesn't have good hands. LMA would be a very good fit with him.

Not so much a stinginess issue as a cba-salary cap issue. We can't sign players if we're over the cap (I mean, we can then use our MLE). We can't give more money to a player than our cap allows, unless we have their bird rights. So adding JSmoove to CP3 and Howard is almost literally impossible. I'm not even sure what moves would have to be done to even accomplish that. Too much of our salary cap would already be eaten up, and once a team goes over the apron (I think that is $4M over the luxury tax line), they can't acquire an S&T player in a S&T either...so that only makes it even more difficult, assuming Les was even willing to pay heavy, HEAVY penalties.

From the 1st page of this very thread

As far as the 2nd part of your post, the only thing that would worry me is Dwight wanting his touches on offense. The thing I love the most about Omer, is he doesn't complain. Would there be enough shots to keep everyone happy? If they're focused on winning, they can find a way to make it work.

From some interviews I have watched of Dwight in the last month, he seems totally okay with fewer touches now. He says he understand his job is not to get touches and only score -- that he does other things like defense and rebounding, etc., that matter just as much. I haven't seen him complain about touches in months, so I would like to think it won't be too big of an issue here either.

I'm actually more concerned w/ Harden wanting to go iso too often and never give D12 a chance :p

Dwight Howard still has a lot of growing up to do. Not so sure about him

Does this mean Kubiak's words has mindwashing ability? Now I know how the hell McNair kept giving him extensions after bad seasons. :p

Some of us would like to see our team competing with Miami in the NBA finals.

The rest of you can have Omer Asik.

The one thing I will give Laker fans, they don't praise mediocrity.

I wish all replies to posts in CF were like this. Very objective and points made clearly, and no hint of antagonism at all. Despite differing views, people are more likely to be open to the opposing view if ideas are presented in this manner, and not with the emotion laden, force feeding, everyone-has-to-follow-my-opinion tone some have. Just saying. Would rep you if i could.

I see a lot of posters calling for Love in say 2014. I used to be a huge fan of this move, but now I am much more dubious.

He is a somewhat precarious acquisition due to his recent health scares. Sure they are small injuries, but they sidelined him for practically the whole year. Does he come back the same? Is he prone to these little ailments?

But more important than the costs he might incur for us, the benefits he gives us are not that great. Love is a prolific rebounder and probably the best stretch 4 in the game. However, Rockets don't have a problem with their offensive efficiency or numbers. We score a lot. Like, #2 in the league a lot. Our gaping hole is in defense. Love does not bring a defensive presence. He is barely an average defender at his position. Though he gets rebounds a lot, he often gives too much space to his man in order to grab that rebound (but it allows the scorer an easier opportunity to make the basket).

I just see Love making what we're already very good at better, but not helping at all our main weakness. We're not even bad in rebounding lol. Just seems inefficient/less benefit.

Keep in mind, almost all championship winners have a very good defensive wing stopper and defensive presence in the paint. We got the latter in Asik (or Howard, whatevs)...but not on the wings. Parsons has regressed. JSmoove would actually be fantastic here, being a tier 1 defender at the 3 and 4 positions, but that is neither here nor there lol.

Thank you :) I appreciate the compliment. Sorry, I just realized this post is both unnecessary clutter in this thread and an act of self-aggrandizement lol.

I want Asik over Howard. I have more faith in Asik improving his offense during off season.

You know, I've honestly considered this a lot too. Howard did come into the league as a power forward after all...

If we weren't somehow able to sign CP3+D12 (haha I know, dare to dream right?), yet able to net Howard, I'd be open to the idea of keeping him and Asik until the trade deadline. Asik isn't going to lose value.

Only downside is, Howard plays enough minutes where Asik and D12 will have to share/overlap on the court a lot. They are not good compliments for each other. Neither can shoot outside of 8 ft!

We will clog our paint so much, which hurts Lin and Harden quite a bit. Neither command the spacing we require to run our offense. Even on defense I worry a bit. The rim will be protected easily, but can D12 defend a stretch 4? I know he's fast, but does he have the speed to close out on a stretch 4, which are getting soooo common today in the nba, or stay in front of a lighter/faster PF who can drive (ex: JSmoove)? I'm not so sure...

And of course on offense, it could be a cluster nightmare. Maybe we could run double screens, starting with an Asik high screen (Howard seems to be bad with high screens) and then a Howard one behind that for Harden/Lin. I don't know, which is why I would be open (personally) to seeing Asik + Howard on the court at the same time for awhile at least.

Just in theory, I can see a lot of problems.

Thanks for that. I learned something. Well. I'll give up on the CP3, DH, JSmoove signings this Summer and settle for just CP3 and Dwight as per your intelligently thought out scenario before.

    Props to you!

I have wanted twin towers since the day it seemed like Howard to Houston is a possibility. It's devastating against bigger teams, and IMO still good in spots against smaller teams. And it lessens minutes played during the season for both to keep them fresh for the playoffs.

I would only trade Asik as part of a package it if means a star is coming back.
