Am I the Only One Bothered by the Concept of the "Asset?"

Jeff's feminity dominates as a result of too many flirtings with the cougars in those cross-over bloggings.

Seriously, like what I have said in the recent Scola's blog entry thread, some sport fans in States would feel awkward about Scola's sentimental feelings about the player trades in NBA but to us outside of US, we share the same feelings with Scola.

I guess that's a trade-off. In one way the organizers promoted US sport games extremely successful with the entertainment packaging, gradually in the other way, certain characters in genuine sport competitions diminished. Sometime watching an NBA playoff series is like watching a drama series but as long as it is still fun to watch, I have no complaints.

 

Unless you are one of the athletes under contract in US, I am pretty sure your employer cannot 'trade' you to another company.

 

There should be loyalty and respect but a player shouldn't expect this idf he abandons these values.

McGrady did but other players on the Rockets haven't. Unlike McGrady they do deserve it as long as they reciprocate.

 

I am very happy to see Jeff post, and as a fan I can see exactly what he means.

However, I am not bothered by the "Asset" type of environment.

The players have no loyalty, the owners none, and the fans are left holding the bag.

There is no going back, so the only option is to accept it, and adjust your thinking accordingly.

It sucks, but reality is what it is...

I don't reckon thats true at all. By all reports Jamison has been a standout citizen and so has players like Big Z. Maybe the younger ones. But Kevin Durant so far has also sounded quite a down to earth person.

Lastly Dwight Howard by all reports is quite a loyal guy as well

 

With the economic climate, there's probably a lot of people here who can relate to be considered an asset or are well placed enough to consider others assets.

Maybe it isn't the digital age but rather our dysfunctional dog-eat-dog culture.

 

I thought of this thread as soon as I read that Landry was going to be included in the deal.

Sure, we upgraded our "assets," but man...I wanna win with OUR guys.
