ok, I was thinking the same, im catching the repeat, been watching the past hour, damn, does this suck, I just ranted to Kam and Miguel about how ****ty this crap is really, Ive been watching for a hour, and all they gave out was the best new artist and Video of the year, in which Rhianna was at least hot but yea, I agree with the last post, 9/9/99 was one of the best ones. All of the VMAs in Miami I thought were crap, they need to keep it in Radio City Hall or the Opera theater in NYC
MTV will never play more videos, its not what its about anymore - its a "lifestyle" channel. They have other stations to play videos - music is ostensibly "better" that their series garbage, but they lose viewers every time a new song comes on. Justin Timberlak can b**** all he wants, but his "music" is not what people care about. MTV are whores, they all admit it. Whatever glues a 14 year old to the set the longest is what they play. They all enjoy making more money than we can imagine. As for Britney, wow, that was bigger trainwreck than I thought it would be, and I watched just to see a trainwreck. It was like - cool, a trainwreck, let's watch! But then when you actually see the thing derail, it is scary and you feel bad for everyone. She looked medicated to me. I think she in physically remarkable shape considering she has two kids and has traded fluids with Kevin Federline, but she had the look of a someone on pills to me. I hope she lives to 30. Yup. I'm going to chalk this to I don't give a rat's ass. Seriously, Harrissment: You're too damn young to remember when MTV was about videos anyway. Do you even know how to draw the "M?" Anyone who knows the original MTV does. It was on all of our Trapper keepers/ book covers, etc.
trapperkeepers?!? i feel old now. keds, gellies, airwalkers, skidz, and ??? i dunno. time to go to bed now. aruhg!
Amazing that all of u watched this. I was stuck on the Giants/Cowboys game. Don't u guys want back those few hours of ur life?
MTV used to push what it thought sold well or at least try to sell things based on its demand. Now the music companies and sponsors are even deeper in their butt so they can only sell what they are told to sell. Basically, they went corporate. Whatever they are selling is pure crap, and I'm really dreading the sweet 16 MTV generation that will grow out of it.
I was watching the game too, but I saw this thread and switched to see Britney and what everyone was talking about. Just caught the last part of her performance. Man, that was just really weird. She's an idiot, but at least she could dance and lip sync back in the day. Now, she can't even do that. It looked like it was a walk-thru or something. Should be interesting to see the fallout from this weird performance. I'm sure Faos will keep us updated.
My wife loves awards shows and hollywood gossip crap, so we had to watch this. -Brittney looked like the drunk girl at the club who thinks she can dance and thinks she's hot. She was drunk, IMO- if you watch closely as she walks off stage, she almost eats her ****. I think a lot of people wanted to give her a second shot, but she blew it. I hope she has a good financial planner. -Chris Brown stole the show, IMO. That kid can dance. -Foo Fighters were sweet with all the different people standing in to sing with them. -Timberland's neckfurters were awesome. It would be nice if MTV would go back to what made them good- videos. It's just the 13-year-old girl reality channel now.
There always one person every year who cries out to MTV to play more videos, but nothing ever changes. I don't think it a big deal anyways. With the internet, just about every video is on demand at your finger tips. Although, I'll agree with everyone else that they need to play more videos instead of this reality crap. But fact is, videos don't draw ratings anymore, its all about these fake reality shows like the Real world, the hills, laguna beach and even tila has her own show now. Hell, even BET is starting to play more reality crap.
Well I guess this is why Kid Rock and Tommy Lee didn't perform together. Apparently they threw down during the show. ------------------------------------- Vegas Police Issue Statement About Rock/Lee Fight Posted Sep 10th 2007 9:31AM by TMZ Staff Filed under: Celebrity Justice The Las Vegas Police Department has just issued a statement to TMZ about the fight between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee: "A little after 8:00 PM last night we received a call that a disturbance had occurred at the MTV Video Music Awards. We had a lot of officers working in and around the awards so they got her fairly quickly. We determined that the altercation was between Kid Rock and Tommy Lee. After our investigation, Kid Rock did receive a citation for misdemeanor battery. Everyone involved was interviewed." Kid Rock must appear in a Vegas court in the next three to five weeks. http://www.tmz.com/2007/09/10/vegas-police-issue-statement/
Huh? Ok, now I'm curious enough to catch this on rerun. That and the Britney thing of course. Anyone know around what time Timbaland came on? I don't want to kill to many brain cells sitting through this thing.
