Ok, so completely random tangent. Growing up I read various versions of the Count of Monte Cristo as I grew older, and eventually settled on a ~400pg version sometime around middle school. Didn't really realize that it was heavily abridged, and many years later after graduating college I came across the unabridged version at 1000+ pages, and reading that almost felt like a completely different book.

 

I don’t know if hypocrite is the right word, but man.....I wish I had a crystal ball and could look into the future and see what violent rap music, violent video games, and violent visual media (streaming, TV, etc) is thought of a 100 to 150 years from now. I hate to make this a racial issue, because my white son plays “among us” as an elective with his Vietnamese teacher, and multicultural classmates every damn day. I like to mess with him and say, “great! You’re learning to to kill and lie in public school.” On the one hand, I hate it, but on the other hand, it’s so awesome to hear him having such a great time with his friends in 2020.
