Don't know where you are getting this, Judge had a historically bad year with RISP (likely to trend up) whereas Altuve hit .343 with the bases empty, .350 with runners on, but his BA (couldn't find OBP, SLG etc) drops to a measly .303 with RISP. Yeah there was a drop but Altuve is so damn good that you still end up with a very good hitter with RISP.

It was just general observation of his tendencies at the plate. It wasn't enough to make enough of a dent I guess. I guess I'm also a little confused as to why his RBI numbers aren't higher?
No clue as they don't disclose every voter, and I'm not sure which baseball writers get to actually vote on the MVP. Here's a link to the prediction: http://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/21411367/expert-picks-win-mvp
I wonder if the writers contemplate the likelihood that Judge would win ROTY (which was almost a given before he did win it) and then not vote for him for MVP because then they are doubling him up? I honestly don't think he deserves both awards.
That would be dumb. If you think he's the MVP, you vote for him as MVP. Obviously, by default, if a rookie is the most valuable player in the league, he's going to rookie of the year too.
Should be a good indicator of where the award is going. Doesn't help that this vote was also taken after the World Series and Judge's postseason struggles.
I thought I didn't care since we won the World Series, but I'm actually feeling nervous about this. Weird! I think it's because I literally love Jose Altuve.
I've been feeling the same way all week. My love for him, plus all of the runner-ups in MVP voting from Houston professional athletes in the last five years just makes this one feel more important. After the World Series and all of the attention the team has gotten in the national spotlight, this would kind of be like the icing on the cake that a Houston professional sports team is finally being taken seriously on the national scale.
If it makes anyone feel better, I just found a Bleacher Report article with Vegas odds on the MVP votes: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...nal-odds-and-predictions-for-al-and-nl-awards Here is what Vegas thinks: Altuve: 1-10 Judge: 5-1 Ramirez: 30-1 If that is an accurate current line on the MVP odds, then Vegas would have to be really, really, really wrong about this for Altuve not to win.
i love james harden, but if jose altuve gets robbed of mvp the city of houston will have the perfect trifecta
