I really think McDyess would be great on this squad. Him and Dorsey would be good if Landry and Deke were not brought back.
As the team currently stands, Deke is very important. We have no true backup center and NO, Dorsey cannot fill that role, especially in the event that Yao goes down again. Deke's backup defense in the post is vital. When Yao goes out and Deke comes in, our post defense doesn't skip a beat. We'll be that much tougher with Artest in the fold. I like Landry, but he's not vitally important. Honestly, I don't think $10m/3yrs is worth it for what he brought for 1 injury shortened season. His knee is still a question mark. Unfortunately we have to wait and see what another team offers, then weigh the positives and negatives. We have all the chips here since we have Artest, Scola, Battier and (gulp) Hayes who can all play the 4 in different sets. Just compare the possible rotations and realistically name an available player that better fits Deke and Landry (#s indicate likely roster spots/*s indicate possible trade/release candidate): C - (1)Yao/(2)Deke/(3)Hayes/(4)Dorsey PF - (5)Scola/(6)Artest/(7)Landry/Dorsey/Harris* SF - Artest/(8)Battier/(9)McGrady/Landry/Harris SG - McGrady/Battier/(10)Barry/(11)Head*/(12)Novak* PG - (13)Alston/(14)Francis*/(15)Brooks*
LOL if deke doesn't come back i will be pissed! The rockets need to pay him a couple of extra bucks if thats what it takes, we need those elbows for shaq and dwight just incase. Was loren woods really that bad?
I agree. The addition of Artest surely increased season ticket sales and ensures every game is a sell out. Not to mention all the extra cash that is gonna come from merchandise (I can't wait to get my Artest jersey!). Just pay the damned luxury tax!!
