Re-read the post, I didn't imply that the Magic were not a contender. My comment clearly stated I was happy for him and that I felt bad when guys went from a good situation to a bad one.

Considering he's been to the Second Round already that should not be all he strives for.

No they are not contenders actually. They have no shot at making it to the Finals, They'll make it to the playoffs and at best they'll make it to the 2nd round. Alston is fool's gold to them, Although I liked what Alston did for the Rockets, he isn't going to help the Magic as much as people are implying.

Alston did a good job controlling the offense, but did a bad job doing his part in the offense (i.e. hitting open 3 pointers).

Until Brooks came along, Alston was untradeable, imo, b/c there was no market for him and we were only going to get worst at that position if we traded him. But now that Brooks has emerged, it was a good move for the Rockets. The only thing that concerns me with Brooks at times is still his interior passing to Yao, but hopefully that will come along.

Alston was a good leader for this team and did a nice job controlling the offense. He never complained and was very professional. It is always good to see an organizationa and a player separate on good terms and I am glad that both sides recognize it was a necessity and in the best interest of both parties to do this.

Here's a link to the thread on Magicmadness.net concerning the Rafer Alston trade. One only has to wonder how those same members on that board who like the deal now will turn on Rafer like what went on here. So far, only 97 posts on it.

This worked out for rockets and rafer....
Rafer knew he was going to be let go soon cuz rockets wanted to get younger at pg....it just worked out that we sent rafer to a good situation where he gets to play with howard and a very good team.
So in the end, rockets got their player, and Rafer is set with a great team heading to the playoffs
