How disgusting. My travel agent just contacted a hotel I wanted to stay at, and they said they don't like Arabs staying at their hotels. That annoyed me like hell. So I'm staying in Bangkok for 2 days, and then I'm making my way to whatever Island I can visit. Most of your replies don't specify if the places you're mentioning are near Bangkok or not. I don't have too much time to waste when I'm there so my goal is to visit 2-3 places close to Bangkok that would be interesting. Any more suggestions would be appreciated!
None of the really interesting places are near Bangkok. There is Pataya and Huahin which are beach towns. Pataya is where the night life is. Lots of bars and a big red light district. Huahin has nicer beaches but not much night life. Pataya is like Galveston and Huahin is like Corpus Christi except both are much nicer. In Bangkok, I would recommend the Grand Palace, the Teak Palace, and Wat Po. For shopping, go to MBK. The beautiful places require a $100 plane ride. Phuket and Chang Mai.
Went to Phuket a couple years back, definitely one of the best vacations I've ever been on. Be sure to visit some spas while you're there, Thailand has some of the best in the world.
Ah, looking for Special Thai Massage...Make sure mamason is happy... Bangkok has a lot of great food and sights...True about the jewlery store thing, but eh, they drive you around and show you stuff, then you don't buy crap... I've also been to Phuket (pre tsunami) and it was awesome...A friend went afterward and said it looked great...THat's where I saw the kick boxing matches, etc...Lots of fun...
