If you know young players are inconsistent why do you keep making i.d.i.o.t.s after 5 good games? Why not do it after he's actually had a good season instead? Then everyone would come in and give you lots of upvotes and agree with you

Now that you are resorting to personal attacks, I guess you no longer have an actual basketball argument behind you

    You were making basketball arguments?

Point to the “basketball argument” in the post I quoted.

Minimum good game stretch for starting a "Where you at Jaters?" thread should be at least 10 at this point.

I don't know how you say this when every metric points the other direction - except FT percentage.

3pt percentage - worst of his career.
2pt percentage - below career average - only one season worse.
FT attempts - below career average.
EFG dead even to last year but below his rookie year.
    Assists - carer low.

I don't see trending upwards, I see him being just as inconsistent as he has been.

And all these stats are after his recent hot streak when prior, all the numbers were career lows.

The only improvement we've seen is defensively - from atrocious to decent.

So what are you seeing on the court? Let's talk basketball.

I’ll admit when I looked at bball ref the other day I was kind of shocked at how poor Jalen’s stats and efficiency looked vs what I’ve seen on the court this year which does look like an improved player who is still maddeningly frustrating, but in some games the main reason we won offensively.

I’m guessing a Morey-like GM probably doesn’t value him in a trade anything like more of an old school GM does. Definitely not a stat geek type of player that’s for sure. But if you watch the games it’s clear to see that he is a big part of many of our wins this year… love him or hate him.

statistically he has no meaningful increase or decrease in his shooting, except for free throws , where he is 6% up. If you wanna put a positive spin to it, you can mention that he is taking more 3s and maintaining the same (bad) efficiency. The assists down is the main negative thing and maybe fta going down.

So yeah overall, statistically he is more or less same. Maybe it is just recency bias. I feel like his understanding of the game increased, he gives up the ball more easily and quickly and notice less stupid choices in his game. But eventually it will come down to whether he can improve his shooting or not and right now as you pointed out, it has not improved.

Every one of these “Jalen hasn’t improved” posts quoted his full season stats. No one is making any argument that he has been efficient this full season.

He has gotten better as the season has gone on. And he does things no one else on the team (and few in the league) can do. That is the pro-Jalen argument.

Continuing to post “but his full year isn’t great” is just purposeful obfuscation. We know that. The question is whether he is trending to be more efficient and consistent as the year goes on, and to me at least the answer is yes.

If JG keeps it up, we might be a top 10 offense before the season is over, with a top 3 defense to go with it. Scary team to see in the playoffs.

You just posted this today I am not sure where you get your stats

    https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/g/greenja05.html

I am too lazy to go over all your stats but bottom line is JG is now shooting 33.7% from 3 which is his 2nd highest and 54.1% TS which is also the 2nd highest of his career and rebounding the 2nd highest rate of his career as well. He is doing it while taking the most 3s he has ever taken. playing the best defense of his career and being assisted the least of his career. He is having his lowest assist % but he is also having the least usage of his career so I think that just evens out.

It seems the only difference between your post and his, is that he is saying Jalen has been very inefficient, and you are saying he's very inefficient but slightly better compared to rest of his career. In the end he is simply very inefficient. It's like arguing about a student actually having a D+ when someone else said he's a D student.

Jalen both this year and in his career has always been among the least efficient volume shooter in the NBA. Regardless of how many caveats you want to put around this fact

My goal as management would be to retain and focus on:
Amen (PG) / J. Green (SG) / Cam Whitmore (SF) / Tari (PF) / Sengun (C)
as our future dynasty lineup. Terror Twins raise havoc and destruction.
Green, Whitmore and Sengun keep improving on defense.

Adding of quote unquote star at the PF position. I would accept Devin Booker to
play as SF and continue to try to shore up PF if Tari/Jabari aren't cutting it.

*This would be case by case study of how Whitmore is acting. Whether he is
    retained or not.

Its pretty sad ain't it then that Alpi has the same scoring efficiency as Green this season then.

What a depressing season. Only 25-12 also.

Folks btching about green efficiency always tend to ignore the defensive impact and the energy/effort green provides for the team.

We are the 2nd best in the west, if efficiency was such an issue to ime, green a$$ would b benched.

Folks are way too focused on efficiency, makes me wonder if folks are watching the game. Acting like he's just chucking the balls like previous years with no improvement to his game.

Watch the games, efficiency isn't the end all especially if we are winning. It also doesn't tell the whole story. His stats are similar to his previous seasons but u are truly not watching the rockets if u think year 1 green and year 4 green is the same aside from "improved defense".

There's a word for teams top 10 in both: contender.

    Crazy times.
