I have noticed one person very enthusiastically posting Steven Adams net rating and on/off numbers, but only selectively, when Alpi had a comparatively bad game or preseason in that category. It's very targeted.

(I really like Adams and hope we keep him, btw.)

Let's also look at some hustle stats:

    https://www.nba.com/stats/players/hustle?TeamID=1610612745&dir=D&sort=CONTESTED_SHOTS

Sengun contests by far the most shots on the Rockets. He provides most screen assists and generates most screen assist points (per minute, Steven Adams is even better - no other player remotely comes close). He is in the top 4 in deflections and loose balls recovered (with Fred, Tari, Amen). He is second behind Tate in charges drawn.

    https://www.nba.com/stats/players/box-outs?dir=D&sort=BOX_OUTS

He is 7th in the NBA in box outs, leading the Rockets (again, Steven Adams even better per minute, no other Rocket comes close).

    https://www.nba.com/stats/players/clutch-traditional?CF=GP*GE*20&dir=A&sort=PLUS_MINUS

Among players who have played minutes in the clutch in at least 20 games, he leads the entire NBA in +/- in the clutch (Jalen is 3rd and Fred is 7th - which is great).

To help out @hlmbasketball here regarding what an "all around player" is, it's the guy who, over the last 1 1/2 seasons, led our team in points, rebounds, 2nd in assists, up there in steals and blocks, most contested shots, most box outs, most screen assists, up there in deflections and loose balls recovered, best player in the clutch, best on/off, best net rating.

@hlmbasketball: "bUt eYE teSt!!!!1!" "aRchEtYpE!!!" "lOb THreAt" "rIM rUnNeR"!!!!!1 "shEngUiny oCcaSIonALLy rEbOUnDs!!!!1"

We're we discussing this yr?? You went always back to nearly 2yrs. And you went back to last yr, because that's when Alpi had his best statical yr.

Players are going to have ups and Downs, its natural. But you're still missing the point. Alpi, TO ME, is just a good player, not great. He is what he is; good around the basket, good passer, and an avg rebounder. He is a younger Sabonis, not Jokic like so many wants him to be.

Which is OK. He can be APART of a good team but he's never going to LEAD a team.

Starting C on a top 3 defense. Not bad, no matter the circumstances.

You’re entitled to that opinion as long as it’s not biased, but then you can’t turn around and argue Jalen can be that guy while it’s clear as day who is the all around contributor and is the better player. You can argue future potential, but you can’t claim one has hit a ceiling and won’t improve anymore while the other has a lot of ways to go on more fundamental things that’s hard to teach. The list goes on and on. This is figurative of course, anyone can say those things and contradict themselves and be a hypocrite all they want but don’t expect to not be called out on it or your opinions to carry much value if you do that.

Lol. You're still trying to justify how statics can backup something that you don't see?

I LOOK at individuals and what they bring, what they do while on the court, rather than how other players around them may ASSIST them, while they are on the court.

Example, many say Jalen had a good game vs SAC, scoring 28pts, 5 rebs, etc but I think he played about avg, because he didn't play well defensively and he had 2 turnovers in the 4th Qtr. That's just me.

Jalen's on ball defense has improved tremendously this year. But his team defense and communication is still lacking. Many times a game it seems he doesn't know when to switch or who to switch to or who to pick up in transition and he just leaves guys wide open for 3 or for a dunk. He needs to clean that up to be considered a good defender.

I see things differently. To me, as I said before, I see Alpi in the same light as a Sabonis. He's a very good piece; a player who can score, pass and rebound but his defense is still suspect. That's why Ime takes him out of games in the 4th qtr on certain occasions......IM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

And Ive said this last yr, which is going to upset a lot of people but Sacramento, just like the Rockets will never win a chip with a center of that type. He is too small and lacks a commanding presence in the paint. During the Post Game Show after the Sacramento game, Shaq called him a SF/PF. I still think he needs to be next to Wemby, Chet type.

There is a distinct difference when he is in the game and when Adams is in the game. I'm not saying Adams should start. Just that in the playoffs, you got to have a paint presence to win big.

I clicked "Show Ignored Content" and found out my "ignore" decision is still 100% fully justified.

If the stats/data don’t back up what you see, then what you’re seeing is wrong. Your eye test has massive bias, numbers do not

Sengun is a way better defender than Sabonis. I've never seen Sabonis have a chase down block or deflect as many balls.just cuz they both euros doesn't mean they are the same. Just watch the last 3 minutes of the kings game and tell me sengun can't be an elite defender. Literally 3 steals and block on 4 straight possession. Shut down monk on the perimeter chase down block. Sabonis can do none of those things.

It's a little bit like arguing with a toddler. Or with a cultist.

    Facts don't matter to them.

Hopefully it's just a down run for him, but his shooting from 3-10 is noticeably worse this season, and it matches the eye test. He's missing a lot of shots that are extremely makeable for him.

It's his most common shooting distance and it's dropped from 50% the last 2 seasons to 44% this season. We really need him to get those shots back to dropping to get our offense to the next level.

Don't you think if he played like that CONSISTENTLY, Ime would play him in the 4th Qtr when it counted more? Rather than substituting him? It's because HE. IS. NOT

Yeah, I know what you mean! Lol

Can you imagine guys calling Sengun a good defender when his coach substitutes him at the end of games, and guys comparing him to an All - Time great in Jokic when you look at Sabonis and they are MIRROR IMAGES of one another; same size, similar games, and same attributes.

No one said he was but he's also 21 and improving. I think he can't play like that consistently cus of refs. He gambles a lot and gets a bad whistle. So he turns it on late in games if he's not in foul trouble.

Plus you are literally playing against the best players in the world. You're not gonna stop them every night or every time. I think sengun has a better chance of getting a stop than DPOY Gobert.

Jokic's coach just compared him to Jokic.

BUT - @hlmbasketball's "eye test" knows better.
