Haven't watched the game but noticed his +/- (-21) was by far the worst on the team, but nothing else on the box score indicates he had a bad game. Plus everyone raves about his D in the 4th. What happened?
Lol. Man, the things people find on the internet. We ALL know that's a worthless tweet. Like I've said before, I go by what I see, not by opinions that or garnered stats. Jalen is our best player this yr. I'm not trying to start a back and forth argument, it's just fact. I've always said Alpi is good, VERY good but the NBA is a guards league now and we should appreciate the fact that we have a very promising guard and a good big.
What do you mean it’s a worthless tweet? It’s literally just saying that NBA.com has Sengun 8th on its MVP ladder. You think that a ranking from the frickin’ NBA itself is “worthless?” https://www.nba.com/news/kia-mvp-ladder-jan-17-2025-edition
The shot-making has not been to Alperen’s standards, but let’s not sleep on what else he is providing at C. 1.4 steals a game. 10.4 rebounds a game. 5+ assists with a 2/1 A2T. It is mandatory that the shot-making returns, but this is pretty special stuff that we can take for granted from the 22-year-old.
The same way Luka, LeBron and Kyrie are among the top guards in the West for All Star Voting, these popular fan / NBA pundits are just going off of NAMES, not what's going on on the court. People recognize Alpi's name because of how he played LAST YR and the fact that the Rockets are 2nd in the West. It has nothing to do with his current play.....Jalen is now that dude! So, my question is , why does it hurt some to admit that Jalen is our best player? Why do some say, he has only been playing like this since Jan, when it's been since Thanksgiving? If you're a ROCKET'S FAN IT SHOULDN'T MATTER
What are they saying about Sengun? TNT at start of the third quarter interview with Ime. Asked about what can Green do better, "we have to make the pass in the pocket." I imagine it was talked about in the clubhouse because Green seemed to force the pass, that led to a few poke aways. While the chemistry is off, love that they continue to try it. Turn it over more until you get it like it's 2022-2023, I say. Amen: "When Alpi is in the pocket, he is one of the best players in the league. He can score. He can pass it. He can do it all." i'll add to that put any big in foul trouble.
I’m not at all. I root for the Rockets. I don’t care who gets the accolades. James Harden got all the accolades and no ring. As a fan, nothing compared to the joy I had when the Astros won in 2017. Shoot I may experience a similar joy if the Texans pull out a miracle tomorow. I think Sengun and Jalen can give you a better version of the Nuggets if they are developed. All I’m saying, is that the current way Jalen is playing. There’s no denying he’s the best player on the court. Has been against Fox/Morant etc. Sengun has been more consistent this year which is why that ranking makes sense, but there is no question who has the highest peak on this team.
Highest peak in terms of scoring, yes. In terms of all-around game, it's Sengun. In terms of disruptive defense, it's Amen. Glad we have all three.
I think you have a different definition of what it means to be the best player this season. For me it's about the entire season, I'm averaging out the performance of every game. The whole season counts equally. And if that's what we're talking about then the answer is Sengun. But if you're asking me who was the best player on the court last night, or the last 5 games, or the last 10, the answer is obviously Jalen. And if you ask me who I think is going to be the best player tomorrow night, the answer is also Jalen. So I think that's what you're saying? But if I take the entire season into account I still think it's Sengun.
I've went over this in a different form but I think most of you all have SELECTIVE AMNESIA. When the season first started it was Jalen who was having a good season, the first 5-6 games. He lead the comeback against Charlotte, brought us back against San Antonio and won a game against st them as well. Same for the game against Dallas. At the start of the season, many fans were upset with Alpi and Jabari, there was talk of trading both. Jalen started to slump but Alpi and Jabari began to pick it up around the 10th game. Alpi had a good 10 game stretch, earned Player of the Week, then he began to have Ups and Downs again. Jalen began to pick it up again around Thanksgiving, which is only about a month - month and half into the season. Thus, if you ask me, both have had slumps this yr, which is common during a 82 game schedule. However, if you're looking at who has had the better yr so far, it's Jalen. Go back and look at the Box scores.
Once again, I like both players but I just want to be clear. When you say ALL - AROUND GAME what do you mean? When I think of ALL - AROUND, I think of Amen. A player that does it all, can get 20pts, 15 rebounds, play good defense, playmake....DO IT ALL. With Jalen, I think of scoring and playmaking and occasional defense. Alpi, low post scoring, playmaking, occasional rebounding and some defense. That's what I see, is that what you see?
I see facts. You live in fantasy land. Alpi scores, rebounds and assists more than Amen. He has way more rebounds and assists than Jalen. For you, that's "occasional rebounding", and you leave out the playmaking, but cite it for Jalen. lol Again, don't get me wrong, I am very happy that we have all three of them, with the way Jalen has been playing recently, if he can keep it up. Going back to last season, let's look at roughly 1 1/2 seasons, so we don't have tiny sample size.
Per 36 he's the 7th best rebounder in the league. How many rebounds are you expecting him to get to say he occasionally rebounds....
Occasional rebounding Looking at the pictures, my eye test says the two guys on the left are much better.
I don't have selective amnesia, I remember the whole season. I know exactly how it went and I just have a different opinion than you. I don't need to look at the box scores any more than I already have, I've watched every minute of every game to come to my conclusion. As I said before, if we're going off average performance, the answer is still Sengun. Jalen has a ways to go. But Jalen has been the much better player for a while now, and is currently playing much better than Sengun. If he keeps this up he will pass Sengun pretty comfortably. But he hasn't passed him yet.
We can also only look at this season. I am pleased that Jalen has a positive BPM this season, for the first time ever.
Sengun also has a +4.7 on/off, Amen +3.2 on/off, Jalen still at -6.9. Rockets are +10.2 when Jalen is off the court, which is better than every team except OKC.
