Isnt it cute? Makes you just want to pinch those goal post moving cheeks! "dont focus on Sengun being on the bench, focus on Dame being on the bench -- THAT was the real reason for the fake comeback"
I think another coach wouldn't treat Alpi as if he's a 1-5 switch defender like Giannis. There are plenty of bigs in the league that aren't switchable like Sengun and aren't as good on offense as Sengun who gets plenty of playing time in tight meaningful games.
This is the only video i can find of his interview https://youtube.com/shorts/A1HGnn-f1IA?feature=share He seems like he wants to say the right things, but i get the sense he's trying to hold back how he really feels. He keeps mentioning defense because that's Silas excuse but i think he knows deep down he's the only one being punished for it and mostly all of Lillards pts had nothing to do with Alpi. Notice his body language and tone. His distant eyes. He says "coach is just mad at us" while looking down(shame knowing Silas is only mad at Alpi). "I(taking blame given to him) just need to focus on defense" pause it there and his eyes track to the side with his head hanging down. This is doubt. He's doubting his own words repeated to him by his own weakling head coach who has zero leadership ability and trying to scapegoat Alpi because he doesn't fit into his plans and wont, nay, can't adjust to the roster. "I can do a better job, i think" with his eyes squinted as if to display pain for allowing further blame to be put on himself and further doubt of his own words he's repeating from his coach, that's why he said "i think." Notice the quick smile at "i'm just doing bad defense" He repeats it and touches his nose as he says "that's why i'm not playing"(touching face shows lack of confidence, in order to distract-of course it could be his nose was itchy)-then he finishes the sentence "last two games" and shakes his head in disagreement with his own words. "I think that's why coach wouldn't let me play" again holds his head down in shame and eyes to the ground and let's out a deep sigh- Silas is robbing this dude of his confidence. "all i can say'' small smirk and walks away. Silas is a follower thrust into a leadership role and when he fails, he throws others under the bus or robs someone of their confidence to feel power. In this case, it's Alpi he needs to feel power over. This is what insecure people can do.
That’s true, but most of the bigs that aren’t switchable can protect the rim. The problem is that Sengun brings nothing defensively! He’s gotta be able to do something well
I was pissed last night bc what’s the point when we’re tanking? Also, we were limited offensively so why not play him
I think the sensitivity to criticism of Sengun by some of his fans can be overdone, to put it mildly, and this is coming from a fan of the Turk, one who badly wanted us to somehow get the guy prior to his draft and praised Stone for managing to do it. Having said that, sitting Alperen for much of the latter part of last night's game and then having one of the assistants going out of his way to criticize the guy after the loss, implying that he played a significant role in how the game played out, which is what he was doing, was patently absurd when the winning team's star player hit thirteen 3's. I don't think Sengun, our center, primary assignment was to guard Damian Lillard on the perimeter. Lillard, by himself, essentially destroyed the Rockets last night. He had one of those mind blowing games great players can have if they have the hot hand, the stars are aligned in the fundament, and if they're playing a team like the Rockets made up almost entirely of rookie, 2nd and 3rd year players, a young coach way over his head, and an inexperienced general manager with orders to tank and gleefully carrying those orders out. In my opinion.
@Os Trigonum seems like Sam Dekker is a sengunatic as well... this seems like a worldwide conspiracy against you and coach silas... TAKE THAT FOR DATA
Best part about this is he benches alpi for Boban. Who might be the slowest player in the league. Like he wasn't getting abused also just got lucky Lillard wasn't in the game.
So in a few years when Sengun says "Silas made be a better player " , how many of you gonna call him a liar?
In a few years, when the Rockets will beg Sengun to sign that max extension, they will need to pray that he holds no grudge for ownership having allowed this travesty of Stone/Silas (who will long be gone) mistreating him to happen, for two long years.
people called me a delusional SOF when I was claiming earlier that alpi is the better player of the 2. you people really dont understand the hype, the media and how it alters your minds like youre a little puppets
I’ll take things that I can absolutely, positively, without a semblance of a doubt, G-U-A-R-A-N-T-E-E will never happen for $500 thanks.
Well, who knows, he might say it in a way where it "made him better" to have to fight through the adversity of an unfair coaching staff singling him out and yanking him at every opportunity.
