Ime alluded to this, not taking advantage of Sengun early. And when they finally did, missed the shots.
I think Sengun is better than Jalen. Thats stating the obvious, but i dont think Alperen is a franchise guy. I think Jalen is Jordan Clarkson level and Alperen is maybe 2nd best player on a championship team. Those highlights in the first tweet to me just show how much better jokic is than Sengun. Guys do cut in this offense all the time. I watch them cut and not get the ball. Joker is so big he can pass over the top of the defense. It looks like when Sengun has a big guy on him he has trouble seeing and passing around them. Some of those same passes joker makes Sengun doesnt pull the trigger on.
Play Reed more with Alpi. Then, the potential assists become real assists. And we don't lose a game like the one yesterday. Reed, Amen, Dillon, Tari, Alpi. This lineup should be together 20+ minutes per game. It's our future.
I'm calling bullshit. Jalen's been in the media, in his own words, "You see how (Nikola) Jokić and Jamal Murray are — I’m not saying we’re like them but they compare Alpi to Jokić all the time. So why can’t I be something similar to Jamal? Not saying I want to be, but someone that can get off too. It’s a two-man threat every night." source: https://rocketswire.usatoday.com/st...-to-alperen-senguns-nikola-jokic/76136137007/ That's Jalen telling you he can be the 2nd best player on a team led by Alpi or something akin a two headed monster. He even stated explicitly that he was the one struggling to adjust under IME's system. He signed a deal way below the max and a deal with a fair bit lower AAV than Alpi. People need to stop being arm chair bullshitologists. This isn't worth any more time.
if u know of a sengun support group, refer the sengunatics to it. this thread isn't a safe space, the haters are everywhere
Completely agreed. I want to see this 5 play more together. It will be great defensively, everyone is willing to set screens for each other and Sengun needs to be surrounded by cutting and shooters.
I think you might be overstating it a bit but I have noticed this too. It's not often, but he definitely does miss cutters occasionally. I had the same reaction you did to the highlights, though, it's insane how many passes Jokic makes that Sengun would never make. I'm really just in awe at how great Jokic is.
That's not on Alpi, but on Ime. He forbids Alpi to make "fancy passes" and preaches simplicity to him.
You're the same guy that said I shouldn't use a small 15 game sample size? So , if we are now basing opinions on 15 game sample sizes, then you're acknowledging that Sengun is one of the most inefficient big men in the league? You can't have it both ways. You can't choose to use a small sample size when it benefits your argument and then dissmiss it when it goes against you.
Should have been a monster game with around 27 points and 10 assists. Some don't like it when I present the "sliding doors" concept to our teams, but I do it to show the small fragment of detail between failure and success. Refs didn't give Sengun a continuation on a fadeaway, that's 24 pts. Instead he bricks 1 of his 2 freebies. Any other vet gets the continuation call. 26 points if he doesn't trip on his shoe and lose the ball on a wide open lane to the basket. The same shoe slipping off in the 1st qtr. Then the altercation with Brooks and Portland, Simmons at the end. Up until then, Sengun was fantastic on defense. No way Ime has him 36 minutes if that was not the case. If that altercation doesn't happen, Simmons doesn't take it upon himself to go off. Rockets win, FVV doesn't call anyone a beoch. Felicia never posts.
We don't get the cuts like Denver runs. Because neither Sengun nor our guards are shooting threads hence both the passing lanes and the path to the rim after getting the pass is way more clogged. And on top of that Jokic is the way better passer. Hence the big gap between the two teams.
Alperen can be so much better. Eagerly waiting for him to get out of this funk. He is a much more talented offensive player than he has shown.
Sengun's teammates are not the reason he's missing a million bunnies at the rim and still getting owned by certain centers. He's been our best player overall but not by as big of a margin as last year. He hasn't been good enough this year.
