The Holiday comp is a good one - both athletic players. Reed is obviously the more consistent shooter and a better passer. That said, I worry his size limits him similar to Holiday. Holiday is a good player but he will never be a legit starter at his size…so is that Reed’s fate too?

Good argument. I’ll have to remember that one…

Only FVV has above average handles by NBA PG standard. From the eye test, Amen and Green aren't any better than Reed in handling the ball.

Green's handles are definitely of the level of a primary ball handler by now. They are no worse than Ant's. In fact they are better and probably on par with SGA.

Good enough to be the lead ball handler for significant stretches of games just like I. match when the offense was humming when he was that for long stretches.

At 6'1" his handles better be at least on par with Jalen's.

Long stretches of those March games where Ime trusted line ups with Jalen being by far the best ball handler on the court in line ups like Jalen, Amen, Bari, Cam, Brooks.

Reed does not get to the rim like either of them. Even in college he couldn’t. He is a spot up shooter with good BBIQ. He will have to play with creators. I think he is going to be a rotation player for a long time, but he won’t ever start for the Rockets. I think JJ Reddick or a less crafty Steve Kerr are pretty good comps.

I saw somewhere that 24% of his shots were at-rim. And the highlights also confirm that a lot of his baskets were layups and dunks. Some of those were uncontested break out shots. But a good number were half court drive in.

It will be much harder in the NBA. But he definitely is not just a spot up shooter.

Yeah, can they roll out those propects to a test run before the Draft.

I think that would be an innovation that prospects should play exhibition games against NBA competition first.

This is a pretty long thread and chances are what I am about to say has already been covered. So, apologies if duplicate.

Sengun reminds me of that Rockets vs Thunder playoffs series where Harden repeatedly harassed, abused and cooked Kanter in the PnR. There was a clip going around where Harden just humiliated Kanter and they subbed him out straight away.

I dont think Sengun would last more than 15-20 MPG in a 7 game playoff series. It would be too easy for opposing teams to target and exploit.

I just cant see him as a long term option..

The difference between Enes Kanter and Alperen Sengun is fairly obvious, but I'll throw some stats at you too that illustrate the difference more clearly.

    21-years-old
    2023-24 Alperen Sengun
    Started 63 Games
    32.5 MPG
    • Deflections Per Game: 2.4 Deflections
    • 5th in the NBA among Centers
    • Charges Drawn: 0.13
    • 8th in the NBA among Centers
    • Steals Per Game: 1.2
    • 2nd in the NBA among Centers
    25-years-old
    2017-18 Enes Kanter
    Started 71 Games
    25.8 MPG
    • Deflections Per Game: 1.0 Deflections
    • 48th in the NBA among Centers
    • Charges Drawn: 0.01
    • 60th in the NBA among Centers
    • Steals Per Game: 0.5
    • 40th in the NBA among Centers

TLDR: Alperen Sengun is smarter, quicker, and flat-out works harder than Enes Kanter. He was the starting C on a top 10 defense in 2023-24, on a team that was playing 6 rotation players that were under 22 years old.

Alpi and Kanter are totally different players. The main similarity is that they are both Turkish, but in style of play they are not similar at all..

if you just said alperen might get cooked in the playoffs, i wouldn't have too much of an issue with that opinion even if i disagreed with it.

the fact that you compared alperen to enes kanter just shows how ignorant your entire statement was. kanter was a complete stiff, couldn't move his feet, and barely even got off the ground. alperen actually has sneaky athleticism and is one of the most flexible athletes in the nba. his defense has improved every season he's been in the league.

also, alperen isn't the one who would get targeted in the playoffs. as long as jalen green is still on the team, jalen will always be by far our weakest defensive player.

Which main account are you a burner for?

I understand why you made a burner to post this garbage so it doesn't appear on your main account.

You can't make this comparison especially after Sengun's last season.

But, also, you gotta know saying Kanter is the equivalent of the n-word for a Sengun fan.

I see one of our current SOH is so desperate they started alt accounts because everyone else is hopping off the Hater train. Sad to see, but common tactic for the KDs and DDs of the online world.

I think you are underselling Sheppard's athleticism a little. When he has a live dribble above the 3-point line and calls for a screen, the D is in a bind. They aren't worried that Sheppard will lay it up; their concern is giving up an uncontested 3. If you blitz that screen, Sengun will have the ball with space. That is if the other players on the court can actually shoot at respectable rates (which has been a problem). Sheppard doesn't have to pass like Stockton or Nash to execute that kind of numbers advantage.

On top of that, I think Sheppard is crafty and athletic enough to move like another Holiday, his brother Jrue. He seems to be doing just fine for the Celtics and is resting up for the finals.

does Alpi and Kanter bring the same on the table as far as offense is concerned?

and how different is Alpi to Joker and Luka defensively?
