Sengun is more Otis Thorpe than Hakeem Olajuwon

So Sengun with the lesser footwork, lesser athleticism, height, creates more 0-8 ft shots than hakeem and he does it efficiently. How does this happen? You talk like ability to create high percentage shot is not something desirable and Hakeem should be crowned for taking 8-16ft shots more.

Nobody is claiming sengun is hakeem, or will be better than hakeem. But some people are okay with acknowledging what he is good at. And the possibility that he might be a great player some day. The tiny possibility of Sengun being better than hakeem just makes you crazy.

It's probably best we don't compare the two. Their playstyles are so different. Career achievements-wise, really any Rockets young player have to clock in more years to be even in the conversation. Team record-wise, have to pass Harden before reaching Hakeem.

There is ZERO possibility of this.

    ZERO.

Stop being fuucking rediculous. I love Sengun also and want him to be a top 5 player in the league but dont be ludicrous.

Ok but what does that have to do with anything? You know he did actually work out with Hakeem right? Those sessions took place, he trained with Hakeem and he learned from Hakeem. I don't think there's anything wrong with someone saying "wow, those lessons sure paid off!" and I don't think they should be crucified for it. It's fine. Nobody is saying Sengun's footwork is as good as Hakeem. Nobody is saying they play the same way. This should not be conflated with a guy who says Sengun is as good as Hakeem or whatever.

You think about a very small probability to be practically zero. The rockets winning the nba this year also has a positive probability but it won't happen this year. But if lived a billion lives, we'd probably witness that. That's how probability works. A positive probability doesn't mean it is likely, or it is big.

What is the point of keeping mentioning he won't be hakeem. Nobody claims he will be. This whole talk started because somebody mentioned Sengun's game has some elements of hakeem, or reminding of hakeem. Nobody said he will be hakeem, or comaparable. To respond to that statement with 'he can't be hakeem' is the sensitivity of sengun haters (and I am not talking about you).

Wasn't judging at all, just stating a fact. Hakeem is the greatest Rockets of all time. I am a huge Alpi supporter, check my history if you have to. But Hakeem is the greatest and we could only hope Alpi gets close to his level of greatness.

You're right. Still, love Alpi's game, amazing footwork and smarts reminiscent of Hakeem, just not the player he was, specially in the defensive ends. Half Hakeem is still an all-star player with youth and plenty of room to grow.

Hakeem? Not even remotely the same type of player as Sengun. Why even compare? You might as well compare him to Michael Jordan.

Hoping Sengun can become Dirk or McHale or LaMarcus Aldridge, or even Jokic, is a much better point of reference.

Dream was the best defensive player ever. Sengun will never be in the same stratosphere defensively however offense is a different story. Sengun is crazy good on offense and is currently younger than Hakeem when he joined the Rockets. Dream was a better rebounder while Sengun is a better passer. Sengun has the potential to come close to or match Dream on the offensive side. Will he? Only time will tell. He will never be better or as good as Dream due to the complete defensive domination displayed by Dream a nightly basis.

Dream was the most complete player in history when you see how he dominated on both sides of the court. He is objectively the GOAT not just for the Rockets but the whole NBA (link below).

When all I is said and done at the end of Alpi's career I believe this take will be great for comedy, just like Carl Herrera when he was trying to trade Harden for Kevin Love.
