They blame Alpe because the Rockets are not crystal clear about what they are running.....One day it is Green, one day Sengün, one fine day it is Bari and Van Vleet. They have this archaic world view that the Center has to be a rim protector, and guys like Jokic proved they do not have to be fierce protectors if you have the perfect complimentary pieces. But I guess it is too much to ask for a klutz guy to build a picture perfect team..... And you cannot commit to 1 guy.
Which leads to my point, if they are both the same size and neither can get their shot off CONSISTENTLY around the rim... then that means we need someone bigger to play center, correct? Sengun definitely can not play PF, so what do you do with him?
Every team is not built the same. And I don't think you should build a team around Sengun. He's not Jokic, Embid, Giannas, nor anyone of that elk. Anyone who thinks that is delusional. Sengun is a good passer, who can only be effective on one side of the court against players his size are smaller.
Alp had a TS of 60% last year. With majority of his shots at the rim. He has no issue scoring and is one of the more efficient younger bigs. A couple preseason games doesn’t make you right. The past is more likely. Also, Alp proved he can play the 4 when playing for national team recently. Along with being one of the better defenders in the preseason. He will be fine, he’s one of the better players on this team with one of the highest upsides
Rinse repeat about Green, Bari..........I do not think they are Wemby.....who cares. We ain't winning one in the foreseeable future. Just win a few games and that be it. Why are you even discussing lol.... it is futile. But you can prop up Sengün to 22 and 9 and make him an asset but you better touch him with gloves. It is very critical for him to shoot though, otherwise you cannot get maximum return. The Rockets are a true horrible franchise for a young player who is not the best athlete......it is real horrible.
It's preaseason and I see a bunch of sht takes on sengun, the usual suspects I will just chalk it up to then lashing out since their favorite player kpj is not longer the franchise player or even in the league. We seen last season and he wasn't even as bad on defense as u guys r proclaiming. With a better disciplined coach and better motivation to win our defense will b better. It's not that complicated
I'd much rather disagree on sports than whether trans people have a right to exist or whether Palestinians have a right to self determination
d and d stuff should stay on its own forum bc it can spiral into the nastiness u see over there. It is gonna b a great basketball season with a new coach that appreciates and utilizes sengun talent
It's really REALLY REALLY hard to engage in basketball discussion with people you know have diametrically opposed views on humanity. It's really hard to jump from seeing a dude spam 20 posts about how trans people are evil and then engage in a convo about Alperen Sengun
What makes you think he is? He didnt play well against the Spurs nor did he play well against N.O or Indy. He blocked shots, Ill give him that but players were still get paint points on a regular. I hope he does everything you guys hope he can, because that only benefits my Rockets.
he didn't play well offensively. his defense has been solid. some of yall are just to used to saying sengun is a bad defender.
If you can't compartmentalize, then you should not even go to D&D. Clutchfans is a Rockets basketball forum first and foremost. There are plenty of venues on the internet you can play poop flinging about those other things.
Agreed. It’s why I won’t even venture into that section. I come here for sports and to escape the real world BS
We should have sub basketball forums based on political views as well, each subforum having exactly one person
