IMO I'm totally willing to give these young guys a pass or two for things like this. They're kids. For the most part they're pretty damn mature for their respective ages. Letting them cut loose every now and then (within reason) isn't a deal breaker for me. As long as he's not getting arrested or hurt and it's not a regular thing I don't see a lot of harm.
Agreed, no harm, it just isn't in his own best interest. Happy for all of them to have fun and rest, but every post is a bit of "perception selling", too.
He played a tournament with real stakes. Other guys are scrimmaging and training but they aren't playing meaningful games. I'm assuming the vast majority of players have r&r after a tournament.
The outsider info we have on how much and how seriously they are working is next to zero. We’ll see who worked during the summer when the season starts. And in a few years we’ll know generally how well he spends his summers.
Yeah, we see two minute clips of some basketball work or some partying, but we have no idea what they are doing the other 23 hours and 58 minutes of their day.
Bad news is he's still having vacation, good news is the summer season is almost over even in Turkey. Honestly, his vacation will ever end? You shouldn't be having that much fun while it was freshly proven that you still have same flaws in your game with no improvement.
I'm ****ing glad he's having fun, people who do nothing but work and grind burnout fast. Give the kid a break, he's a professional athlete, he aint out of the gym for long.
Call me crazy, but didn’t he just finish a grueling tournament after flying out from Houston where he was already working out with the team? Didn’t he look more explosive and much better conditioned than we have ever seen him? With an improved three-ball and FT to boot? I don’t understand. Did all that improvement come from magic?
I personally don't care that he's taking R&R. Breaks and vacations are healthy, both physically and mentally. I just don't think him having it posted / shared is the greatest look considering his teammates are posting videos of them working out or working out together. If he comes back and doesn't show immediate differences, I can easily see stuff like this coming back to bite him from a PR perspective.
It's not "having life", it's "being lazy". Still reaching for the ball on pretty much every defensive possesions instead of defending his matchup and still a terrible pnr defender.
Are there some crazy clubbing vids that I am missing posted by my ignore list? Or is this talk all on a photo with 4 guys on a beach? Yeah, my boss as well gives me no vacation when there is something I can improve on. It is completely understandable. I just work hard and hope to have a vacation next year.
Which means in the end what he does on the court matters much more than what he's doing in his spare time. He can put up workout videos every day and talk about how he has been sleeping in the gym for months and it still won't matter if he plays like crap. I know it's the offseason and there's nothing to talk about, but even by offseason standard this is a nothing burger.
I just want him to be as dedicated to basketball as the top-level posters on this board are dedicated to their jobs.
