Would be cool if he’s actually a combo of jokic and hakeem. You’d be looking at likely a 10sh time mvp and someone who would blow away jordan and lbj, probably looking at a bill russel type run from a championship standpoint also. If harden signs we’re easily the title favorites for next year since we’d be a way better version of philly

Haha I was thinking the same thing. But I doubt he would be involved in this.

Only 15 players received a vote at all, from about 100 active players. He is the youngest to receive a vote. Of the top 10, only Doncic, Tatum, Ja Morant and Gilgeous-Alexander are not close to retirement or approaching 30 yet.

It's definitely not impossible for him to become a top 10 player in the next few years.

Sabonis is a very skilled player, but him not taking chances on the scoring side of offense is limiting for him. Alpy already has an assertiveness that Sabonis lacks. (Jokic obviously has that well)

Yeah, just kidding around. I am sure you cannot vote yourself, Sengun(or any other nba player) won't do it.

I think it is fairly likely he will be a a top 10 player in 4 years, if not sooner. Just needs a coach to unlock it.

I hope you do realize the guy is not even old enough to buy beer yet. He is not a finished product. He has post footwork similar to Hakeem already and has passing skills similar to Jokic already but he is not as good as either yet. He will get better, perhaps much better. Nobody knows what his ceiling will be. Perhaps he is already close to it or maybe he will keep getting better and become a player that can be a 10 time MVP. Only time will tell. I for one think his ceiling is MUCH higher. I can easily see being a 25+/12/10 player. He has already shown he can be a 20/10/5 player when given the minutes as a 20 year old. Even if that is as good as he will ever be then he still has a bright future.

I will add, he will never impact a game defensively like Hakeem but he is not the defensive liability some make him out to be and he will get better. Offensively he could potentially become better than Dream due to his passing ability. Again only time will tell.

Better offensively than the guy who dominated David Robinson, Ewing, and Shaq? The guy who led the rockets to a titles without another star? The guy whose team beat Shaq and Penny? During a time that teams could actually play physical defense? Just wanna make sure we’re talking about the same guy

It is amazing that Sengun is 20 years old until July, and already displayed better potential than Sabonis, who is a 3 time all star and All-NBA 3rd team. While Sabonis is obviously better at rebounding and slightly better at shooting, Sengun is already a better overall offensive player, more creative passer, and has potential to be a better defender.

Basically, I'm expecting Sengun's median outcome to be Sabonis, although some people think Sabonis may actually be his floor and his median outcome is somewhere between Sabonis and Jokic. This is literally amazing for a 16th pick at 20 years old.

The value for a projected 3 time all star and all-NBA 3rd team (at 26 years old) is worth at minimum a top 5 pick and many times you're giving up multiple unprotected picks with a very good player. It is hard to imagine the team giving up Sengun for the 4th pick in this draft, and I would bet most GMs wouldn't trade Sengun for Brandon Miller. Sabonis would be a great pick at #3 in most years. It is crazy some people on this board don't even think Sengun is worth a top 10 pick.

Sengun's defense is definitely an area of concern. However, as we've seen with Jokic, great offense is better defense and it is extremely difficult for teams to continue to ISO centers. Switching onto centers shaves a lot of time off the shot clock, ISO plays are mostly low value plays, and anomalies such as Steph Curry and Lillard will retire in a few years before Sengun will reach his prime. If Sengun can improve his already underrated defense, then we are in prime position.

Lastly, the 1 player in the draft that fits Sengun the best is Taylor Hendricks. He will likely be very synergistic with Sengun and both players will be better. Elite weakside shot blocker, can defend 1-5, high IQ, and most importantly is projected to be a plus shooter in the NBA. We'll know more on 5/16, but if we don't get a top 3 pick and we can't trade the pick, we need to draft this guy. He is the 1 player outside top 3 that does not have a major weakness and can play with or without Sengun.

Also wanted to give major props to @AroundTheWorld for his continued dedication to being Sengun's #1 fan on here.

Hakeem never had the passing ability that Sengun has. Alpi is not quite as good as Hakeem during the championship years in the post YET. Hakeem was 31 when he won the first title. Sengun is over a decade younger and already displaying ability not seen since Hakeem down low. He may never be as good as Dream in his prime however we have to wait until Alpi hits his prime before we will know.

Ok y'all know I'm down with Alpi's game but the Hakeem conversation is jumping the orca.

Ehhh, okay man. Sengun scoring on Wenyen Gabriel isn’t the same as Hakeem dominating HoF bigs that were legit 7 footers and weighed anywhere from 265-330

You always have to remember that Hakeem was legit 7 foot in shoes with a 7'6" wingspan and excellent athleticism for his size. Alpi will never have those kinds of physical tools. Even Jokic looks a bit taller and longer arms to me, and obviously bigger/stronger (maybe due to the age difference). Although I do think he's a bit less athletic.

That's why I don't really see a top 10 player, All-NBA first/second team type of ceiling with Alpi. Maybe third team. Just not enough physical tools. He can still be an all-star, maybe even a superstar (depending how you define superstar) if he improves a lot. Just not seeing a guy who will ever be in the MVP conversation, personally.

If Hakeem is legit 7 foot, then Alpi is legit 6'11.

I think Hakeem was closer to 6’10”, but I agree with everything you said

Remember, Hakeem is 60. Men gradually lose about an inch of height between age 30 and 70. Sounds weird, but he's probably not as tall now as he was when he was a player.

Was at a mother's day buffet today and some old dude with a walker said, let me guess...you're 6'5?

I used to be 6'6 - so you might be on to something lol.

I always figured Dream was more like 6’11.

The question on Sengun will be the commitment level of us to tailor the offense and defense around him. So unique in his skill set.
