Only for shooting guards, if you're a center all of the shots are good even if you never make them and your FG% looks more like a backcourt than front court player...
It's hilarious, for both Jalen and Sengun in their first playoff series. One seems to get a lot of excuses about it being their first time in the limelight, and give him time. The other, doesn't. Comical, as has always been the discussion between the two of them.
What? What does this even mean? He's still making the shots, just not as often as he should. How does that make them unmakeable?
Yeah its bloody infuriating when they dribble the air out of the ball at the logo for 15 seconds every play
Defensive rating as a measure of player defense for a starter against a bench player, in different teams, playing 7 seasons apart where the ratings have change significantly is really something. And the player that is claimed to be better is Sabonis who is a terrible defender.
I think Ime would feel more confident in going to Sengun for post ups if he was a better free throw shooter. This is crucial moving forward, he has to improve his FT shotting next season. He has to stop missing those dollys as well. Dude has missed way too of those this season. Warriors seems to have targeted him on the perimeter against Steph where he is holding his own better than expected.
Point taken. “Unmakeable” isn’t the right word, coz it’s still makeable. What I’m trying to say is, if that push shot doesn’t have a good % (I’ve no idea), maybe it really isn’t a good shot?
That makes a lot more sense, and yeah, agreed. At some point we can't call them "good shots" if he can't get them to go in. That's been an unfortunate issue all the way back to his rookie year. He's so skilled and has such good footwork, he regularly gets past his defender or gets plenty of space for the shot. If he could just make shots at a normal rate I feel like he'd have a 65% TS. But he blows dunks and open layups at an absurd rate. And even his little dream shake-esque moves that juke the hell out of the defender, it looks like an incoming highlight, but he shoots the baby hook off the front of the rim from 3 feet. When the shots that look easy actually go in he shoots like 60%-70%, game 1 was a good example of that. It's kind of crazy that he can't get this figured out.
I convinced myself it was just fatigue but he has no excuses now since he's gotten more than enough rest.
It’s been all year for Sengun, major drop in efficiency. Just missing open shots and free throws at an unacceptable rate.
Sengun had a rough game 3 and looked frustrated and lost his confidence. I hope his Dad attends next game to give him a kick in the ass. Alpi always seems to shake off the jitters when he gets appropriately fired up.
This season it happened a lot more compared to previous seasons. Hopefully it is just a down season and he will get back to his old self.
That's true. What's also true is that it was the same last year, before he signed the contract. The posters react more on the basis of who they think should be the leader of the team and who is stealing that role. That's why haters of one player tend to be "only fans" of another. Regarding his contact, I think it's fine even if Sengun stays as he is. If he can improve efficiency, it'll be a cheap contact. If his efficiency goes even lower, he'll be overpaid. I hope for the first but expect him to stay more or less at this level.
