I love Scola but Şengün clearly has much more potential. I see Alpi more in the Pau Gasol tier. But I have to admit I would love Alpi to develop a mid range shot like Scola. And Scola was a gym rat and really took care of his body. Although I believe that Alpi also takes working out very seriously.
And Scola wishes he had Sengun's court vision, passing ability, and hilariously, speed, athleticism and defensive capabilities. And Sengun is a lot closer to matching Scola's craftiness than Scola was to matching any of Sengun's other talents.
Guys people are trolling when they say his ceiling is Scola. Come on dudes. You guys need to be more secure with Alpi. He's a 22 year old all-star. He'll be making all NBA teams in his career. No one saying he has a Scola ceiling are believing what they are saying. They just like to trigger people.
Okay he had no problem finishing last game. He's a young player consistency will come. If he had so much trouble why would the opposing coaches double him. It makes absolutely no sense what you are saying cuz if he was missing that much they'd just let him shoot.
this is very true. Certain people want to always romanticize the past and crap on the current team. I think Sengun has played slightly below my expectation this year, but it’s because the expectation was very high. it’s not like these guys are just gonna stop getting better at the age of 23 or 24.
If you watch, defenses sometimes dare him to shoot 10+ feet from the basket. If Alpi reacted quickly when receiving the ball in scoring position, instead of holding the ball up in the air thinking about what to do, he wouldn't be doubled as much. What made him so effective against the Jazz (besides them being the Jazz) is he was decisive and forceful. We haven't seen that in a while.
Cmon bro his efficiency isn't good this year and everybody has noticed it. He's not shooting bricks he's missing layups. I'd like to see more Jalen creating but that's just me. But to the point, Scola didn't miss those layups
I think he can be better than Scola. I think they both are limited but I think Alpi has a higher ceiling. If he can develop a shot outside to 15ft, I'll be happy
Yeah, there you have it. Be open man, be sincere like this. There are no strangers among us. It's no secret you have a thing for young men with nail polish. Out with it. You'll feel so much more comfortable outside the closet.
Scola was crazy underrated, if he was a 19 year old coming into the league, I am sure Scola would be closer to Pau Gasol...... (came into the league a 28 year old and still killed it) Scola had that It-factor as well. Younger fans can't even imagine in this era of influencers.....
We all love Scola, not because he's the kind of star you build around but because of the kind of dude he is. He loves the game. He has this "never say die" attitude. He plays hard all the time. If you put him in garbage time, he'd play like the game's still on the line. He always runs the floor even though he's usually one of the slowest guys on the court. That's how he gets tons of trailer shots in fast breaks. He can't jump more than an inch. But he's always in the mix of rebounding, pushing, shoving, boxing out. He's smart, doesn't do boneheaded things.
Still, you can't say what if .....if he came in as young as Alpe did....and if the Spurs brought him over like they did with Tony Parker. The only thing I know is that Argentina's best national player is Scola and not Ginobili, and if he played like that for the national team, he would have produced in this era and at age 19.
IDK. I think for a long time Ginobili was considered Argentina's best player. In fact, I remember he was at one time considered one of the best players in the world outside of the NBA. Scola was never ranked that high.
You could go back, Ginobili took tournaments off while Scola played in 98.9% of them. Manu had his priorities straight. The press gave him flowers because of what he did for the Spurs. I have no doubt in my mind that a young Scola joining the NBA ......that would have boosted his game. This is like giving awards out to a player that hasn't qualified for the 65 Games Played rule because of DNP's..... Scola was the equivalent to Yao and China, he had to play in every game.
lol this is such a ridiculous take by you. Argentina was really only a threat and competitive when Ginobili played. Just cuz scola played more doesn't mean he's the better player. There is no world where anyone in Argentina truly believes scola was better than Ginobili, this is like saying Shane battier is better than tmac cuz he played more...
