    He really does have some unusual Larry Bird-hands on defense. I hope we continue to make use of his strengths. Get him out using his hands as much as possible, and let guys like Amen and Tari and Bari handle some of the backside rotations and rim contests.

    He 100% is a good 1 on 1 defender. He has active hands, strong lower body, tree trunk legs so he can't be moved very easily. He looks bad when he can't read guards' movements because if he bites on fakes he can't recover due to his slow feet. If they work on him getting better at reading their movements he will be a pretty good defender.

    The quality of his contests can improve through repetition and focused practice too. It's not all about your height/wingspan (Alpi is about average for a center in those areas anyway), it's also about timing and positioning. A lot of his contests are too late to change the shot or he hasn't actually been able to wall his man off from a good angle at the rim. Those things can get better over time.

    Kuminga seems to have turned the corner and on trajectory to be more than a role player.
