Silas in unparalleled in wasting talent. Using Alpi as a 3-pt shooter? BS. Making him play pick'n pops? BS. Yanking him when he fouls, chastising his defense? BS. Given the way he's regressed, Alpi should have been asking for a trade for a long time now. He should just go somewhere he's appreciated.
It does feel like Silas "deflated" Alpi. Alpi came in with swag, creativity and tenacity. In response, he got publicly chastised by his coach and his minutes have been very low and inconsistent. It's like the coach wants to clip his wings.
The coach and Stone have no business being in a management position and would be fired in any half way decent organization. This franchise has fallen off a cliff, thanks to the people it’s driven away, Morey/D’antoni, and the incompetent bafoons it kept, Stone/Silas.
People assess Alpi’s defense solely on his man to man defense when he’s constantly blown by play after play by quicker players. Alpi is not a good defender when you take account of other things. He’s too slow for this era.
He is NOT the best player, and his lack of athleticism is exposed the longer he plays.....he has a long way to go to be a good starter in the league, he will need to get by on wits and skill - which he has a ton of......and the Rockets are never going to give him a chance to be a Jokic.....he will be a complimentary player here. DD
He has more than enough athleticism to play in this league. He’s above average for big men in almost every category except top foot speed. And he’s not a final product in terms of body, lot of baby fat
No, he is not, he is slow to react. His intelligence, and skills are what will make him a good NBA player. Maybe even great if the team builds around him, but it won't......there is only one Jokic - and the Rockets are committed to outside in........Sengun will be a very good NBA player - our best passer, and highest BBall IQ - but won't be the best player - his lack of athleticism and the team's direction won't let it happen. DD
Reaction is due to scheme and coaching. He didn’t have these problems to begin the season. You keep saying lack of athleticism, it’s just not true. No he isn’t an upper echelon athlete but he isn’t a poor athlete at all. He’s quick, has above average vertical, coordinated, agile and fluid. The only thing he’s below average on is top foot speed.
Let me help you with the actual definition as used in this context. "a person's ability to respond physically and mentally to external stimuli." What scheme and coaching are affecting his reactions?
Sengun is playing in wrong defensive system. He doesnt have the lateral agility or length to efficiently switch everything. Sengun and even Wood, should be playing more drop coverage and/or zone defense. Sengun has great hands and IQ, already an excellent disruptor who should be the nail on defense so he can maximize his strengths.
Do you know what he meant in the way he used reaction? It goes to show that early in season he was “reacting” fine. What has changed? Outside of him being coached by this staff. His reaction time to where he should be, whether it’s switch, drop or rotating is worse than it was to start the season. It’s not a physical issue. That is a mental issue. Which I attribute to coaching.
He is slow footed - he doesn't have a great vertical, he is not a great twitch athlete......he is a tall skilled player. Doesn't mean he is BAD, just means he is not an elite athlete. Plenty of NON- ELITE - ATHLETES are great players... DD
You keep saying lack of athleticism. It’s just not true. He isn’t elite but he is a leave average to above average athlete outside of top foot speed
He will likely never be the best player on a team that is any good, but that doesn't mean he can't be a decent rotation player in the NBA. It's time for everyone to face reality, this Rockets draft was a failure in terms of drafting future stars.
ok silas thank you, now go watch some film on denis schreoeder, victor olabricko and your favorite player of all times - john the ballhog wall
never underestimate power of fools to fool people.... 99% of people here doesn't like silas as a coach yet 99% of them is convinced the players ARE what the idiotic silas system made of them.... their brains not athletic enough, their minds too slow footed to imagine the players in different circumstances
He is not slow-footed. He is also not a bad athlete. His footwork is great. He struggles mostly against extremely tall players.
