Looking at winning %s this way is meaningless. KPJ basically plays over 30 minutes. He is part of every win and loss of a very bad team and the team is basically constructed on him. He is given every opportunity to impact the game. And when he plays less than 30 minutes, it probably means it is a blow out(unless injury) and Silas already forfeit. KPJ is bigger part of a loss in those games.

When Sengun gets 30 minutes is kind of random or when another major player is injured. When a major player is injured, of course it is harder to get a win with a already bottom team. And even if he gets 30+ minutes, he did not get the chance to impact the game like kpj until recently.

I think it is much easier than that. Do you like the offense kpj has been running for about 2 years now, and we are still promised that he will learn. Or do you like the offense sengun runs in his first 5-6 games as the play maker? Which one do you think has more promise and chance of being successful?

this is so unfair, shortsighted and biased.... kpj running the offense for 2 years now, and of course you cant do anything meaningful when hes out for 2 weeks because its not automatic from that point on, because KPJ installed bad habits and he mortified the cutting, passing and team instincts of everybody

OTH the Sengun system will only work if you really do play through sengun, if you let him always initiate, touch the ball often, and make people move, cut, screen, etc, otherwise its the same if you play bruno sengun, lebron or jokic...

Sengun may or may not b the savior of the Rockets but I questioned the impartiality of some posters if they really can't tell or see no difference between a sengun led offense vs a kpj centric one.

First off, I never said I couldn't tell the difference. Secondly, in return I have to question the impartiality of posters who feel that offense is some gigantic majority of the game and that defense is secondary. And only the biggest SOFs (who are all here in this thread, of course) think he plays good defense.

I would love to be able to watch a game through Nice Guy's eyes, just to see what he sees. Just absolutely delusional. He really thinks all the team's defensive problems are due to one guy

1- The trade-off between offense and defense is the whole game. Not one or the other.
2- Sengun's defense is not good but would look much better in a team with a normal defensive scheme, talent and effort. When the perimeter defense is this horrible, no center will save your ass. The critism on sengun's defense in that sense is overblown and not fair.

It would look better if we just played bigger. Like wtf.. why do we play soo small. The whole point of drafting Tari and Jabari is to get length and more defense.

It's more baffling in that people keep bringing down Sengun for his defense when he's sadly been one of the better defenders on this sorry ass team. And what brings down the whole argument that having Sengun is a huge tradeoff between offense and defense is that our worst defensive players all season have been KPJ and Jalen - and so somehow that means it's alright to have KPJ lead the offense again?? Makes no sense.

    I agree with you.

But if you make that claim, you should be able to see the validity of this similar argument:

KPJ's PG play is not good but would look much better in a team with a normal offensive scheme, talent and effort. When the team offense system is this horrible, no PG will save your ass. The critism on KPJ's point guard play in that sense is overblown and not fair.

Sengun's offense is very strong, pulls the whole team to another level. The goal on defense is to make him an average defender, not a liability, which can be done by placing good defenders around him, to make up for his weakness.

KPJ's main function is pg. You are saying KPJ's weakness is his main function and can be offset if we place great offensive players around him. And he is not good on d either.

We drafted a pg, but instead of playing him the org wants kpj to learn how to become a pg or play nix heavy mins.

Sub-par game by Alpi tonight, only 21-7-7, but we won, nice!

Since the Rockets have truly committed to running the offense through Sengun, the team looks so much better, losses included. The first couple of games was kind of iffy, as our perimeter guys didn’t really seem bought in…but now it appears that Jalen is, at least.

When Sengun is on the bench, the offense quickly reverts to a bunch of chaotic plays and ISOs, which is not always a bad thing as it can disrupt the opponents rhythm.

Maybe our coaching staff has stumbled upon the right way to utilize our young fellas. I certainly hope so!
