He's referring to this play. Lucas subbed Sengun out after this.

IF this is why Lucas subbed him out and IF this is why Jabari called Lucas to "take his ass out", it only proves 2 things in my opinion.

1- Jabari Smith JR is a bad teammate.
2- John Lucas is a bad coach.

Because it's hilariously obvious that it's KPJ's fault. He gambled for passing lane as he usually does and completely ignored the cut as he always does. The Rockets are really a clown show.

As you said, it is sad if Jabari actually said it after this one. Not only that it is KPJ's fault, the rockets transition d has always been non-existent, not even at a state to be evaluated to be bad or good, so nothing about this play is alarming, even for kpj. Honestly I am surprised and glad to see him back there.

What's really sad is that Sengun is also held accountable for others' mistakes beyond his own.

The best Sengun could do in the position he was in on that play would be to pick up a foul and give them an "and 1". Lucas obviously should not be included as a candidate when they start the search for a real coach to turn things around.

With plays like that Sengun will never be head honcho.

    Group II: Trending up

    Franz Wagner, Magic

Alperen Şengün, Rockets: Şengün still operates with a decision tree that’s something along the lines of “What is the highest-variance move I can make here?”

Full-speed, no-look, behind-the-back pass that maybe finds an open trailer or maybe hits an usher? Between the legs into a spin move up-and-under reverse pivot lefty finish? Full sprint sell-out for a maaaaaybe shot block? Attempt a murder dunk even if there’s a 60 percent chance it’s an offensive foul? Yes to all.

The good news is that Şengün has refined just enough of his worst instincts to become a pretty valuable offensive player. He still turns the ball over too much, flinging discount-Jokić passes that only sometimes find their target and racking up offensive fouls, but his low post game is a weapon one-on-one. He has a really strong base and a variety of spins and hooks he can use, plus he can finish with either hand.

Watch here as he shows the whole arsenal to get a bucket on Xavier Tillman, a good post defender, capped by his signature move of a right-hand shot fake and reverse spin into a lefty hook:

The next step for him is upgrading his defense, particularly against pick-and-roll or pick-and-pop. The Rockets usually keep him in a conservative drop, to the extent they operate with a plan at all; Şengün has good “catch-up” speed trailing dribblers for blocks but fouls far too often (6.1 personals per 100 possessions). Meanwhile, bigs who can draw him away from the cup eat a Vegas buffet.

Şengün won’t turn 21 until July, and the offensive ceiling here is legitimately exciting. However, for the 16th pick in 2021 to be a long-term starter in the middle, he has to become a more reliable defensive backstop.

    Trey Murphy, Pelicans
    Santi Aldama, Grizzlies

i'm starting to think it may be chemistry related, you can't support more minutes if the team does not support that too.

For two seasons in the Rockets, the cost of everything in defense is written to Sengun.

And yes, Jabari is a bad teammate. It is clear that he is a toxic personality. He had tried to attack Jalen Green before too.

    very deficient tunnel-visioned analysis
    haters on life support!

cant help but think he even malevolently calculates fouling rate in this way, and not per 36 or per 48 to make impression hell foul out if hes played more minutes
