I agree with you but every single player on this roster currently have major flaws for the games that matter the most.
Yeah - obviously we have a lot of work to do before this roster turns into a contender. I think this thread is particularly interesting because it centers around whether Sengun is one of our main actors or part of the supporting cast. This is all foundational discussions right now about how we should build out the team- we are MANY years away still even if we got 3 or 4 of the picks right.
Shaq was useless as an offensive player outside of the restricted zone as well and yet he's one of the greatest scorers of all time. Just to be clear I'm not saying AlP is as effective as Shaq. I'm just saying your take is narrow minded and dumb.
I do although it’s a little different because the matchup problems for Green are less around speed and more around strength and the bigger stronger players typically get played off the court so the opportunity to exploit is lower…but it’s still a concern for Green.
You compared Alpi to Embiid, Jokic and kind of AD and indicated his deficiencies. So, to whom you compare with JGreen and what is his deficiencies within the compared players? Give us 3 names and compare JGreen with them, if you can.
There is no logic that says you can't build a contender and think about grooming your 2nd or 3rd best player. There is no logic that says a Brook Lopez or an Andrew Bogut or a Draymond Green can't start for a champion and be one of its best players. There is no shortage of cap space and there is no downside to developing Sengun given the potential he's flashed. You do not have to build an offense around him. That is not the only way a C can be good. Sengun works in the style of Jokic where his offensive output more than makes up for his defensive deficiency. Jokic was NOT putting up absurd numbers when he was considered a max-worthy, contender-worthy player. My god. Your thinking is littered with artificial obstacles. Bottom line: 20 points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists with competent defense is a player that any contender would have at any position in any era. I know what constitutes a huge net positive, and there are no players - regardless of fit - who generate a high net positive on the court and aren't deserving of top salaries. You're just not going to see it. I thank you for the discussion, but it's hard to consider an argument that says "even if he averages 20, 10, 5 and 2 with competent defense, it won't work". That's impossible.

Sheer athletic supremacy will always trump skill. This is the biggest reason why Sengun might have a hard time cracking stardom IMO.
Although I like JGreen, Jabari and especially Tari, none of them top 15 players in their positions yet (hopefully all of them will be top 5-10).This credit only goes to Sengun at the moment, he is a certain top 15 in his position. Instead of bringing other players up, some dudes try to lower Alpi down. Strange minds, I am not good enough to understand them/their guiding motif.
