Folks, it's not really that hard to just hit ignore for posters with names like "anatoliasuperstar21," and "LoneSenGunMan" rather than complain about them forever
I would LOVE for Sengun to be the next Hakeem or Jokic but he's NOT it! Hakeem was dominant on both ends of the court, Sengun is just avg on the offensive end. He doesn't have a jump shot and he's only effective under the basket. Jokic is slow but he's big and he's a beast on the offensive end! If Sengun was over 7ft, possessed the same passing skills, and had a jump shot, then I could share in your exuberance over Sengun BUT HE DOESN'T.
It’s funny bc I’ve thought about that recently. Like the reason I hate the cowboys so much is bc of their fans. I’ve been too harsh on Sengun bc his fans annoy tf outta me. I still have my concerns, but I’m not gonna **** on him anymore. I’ll still criticize him when I feel like he’s playing like **** tho
I'm not going to continue to discuss this issue with you because its frivolous. But just to prove my point, look at that list. He's one spot behind Bam Adebayo who's known primarily as a roller and defender and two slots ahead of Montrez Harrell...MONTREZ HARRELL! In case you don't know, Montrez is a backup who NEVER pass the ball, all he does is look to score!
and in the never-ending marvel that is the current GARM, I find myself in agreement with @SamFisher . I give up. Life as I know it is over.
Especially @hakeem94 bc he floods threads with Sengun related tweets every damn day. Not just a few, but like 50 a day. Like why
Sengun is in his second year and is way ahead statistically than Joker in his second year. Sengun can work on his outside shooting if Silas let him play. I do not know if he ever be a HAKEEM OR THE JOKER. I do believe he is a 20 points and 10 rebounds a game player. He might not be a Hall OF Fame player but I do see multiple all star appearances and championships. Center who can lead a fast break, handles like a guard, strong as a ox to get rebounds, has elite feet that has crazy post up moves…..he is a Star player.
What makes you to lower your expectation? In his 1.3 years (even not 1.5 years yet) he is 18p/11 rebs per 32. Next year he will be 22/14 per 32 and he will be likely 25/15/8 in his mid-twenties. What is the reason that you limit him to 20/10, just above-average player? Curious.
With a 3pt shot and more muscle, Sengun can give you an efficient efficient 20+ points, 10 rebounds, 5 assists and almost 2 blocks per 36. That's a reasonable projection. It has never happened in NBA history that a player with those basic stats is not an excellent NBA player. You have to understand 5 assists is at least 10 points generated, so you're talking about a player who is producing over 30 points for you on the court. Now let's talk about if he wants to get into the top 30 players in the NBA. Defense is the final step. What's highly encouraging is that he averages double the block rate of a Vucevic or Kanter or whatever no-defense C you've been comparing him to in your mind. Blocks are not defense, but they're a good indication of defensive potential. If he were averaging half a block things would be bleak on this side of the court. Speaking of averaging half a block as a sophomore, Andrew Bogut with a 3pt shot is an excellent comparison for Alpi. That would be a hell of a player. Alpi's already a better 3pt shooter than Bogut ever was and a far better FT shooter as an indication. Bogut became an excellent defender despite poor athleticism, injuries and no defense at the start of his career. Bogut was a lesser shot blocker as a youngster. I feel like a slightly more athletic Bogut with a 3pt shot would have been a different tier of NBA player. I don't buy this idea that Alpi is just going to be another Jahlil Okafor. The signs say otherwise and I think some on this board have forgotten that they're micro-analyzing. A 20 year old big tweaking his 3pt shot and improving defensively is more likely than not.
…tell that to the hundreds of 20yr old bigs who have been drafted who never stuck in the league. I like Sengun and on promise he could certainly be one of the more productive bigs in the league one day….but unless you have a player capable of playing to the level of Embid, Jokic, or AD(when he isn’t in street clothes), then you probably don’t want to invest a huge amount of cap space to that big because generally bigs don’t impact the game to the same level as good guards and wings. I don’t think Sengun is ever going to be THAT good so it begs the question of do you want a guy of the same impact as a Vucevic to be your #2 or #3 best guy(and paid like it too}?
