Yes, definitely need a fadeaway or some sort of midrange too. He was attempting for those time to time but recently zero. Not sure if that’s because of him
Made me so happy when he drained that one last night after quite a lot of occasions where he has the open look and throws a pump fake nobody's going to bite on and lets the defender close him out. I'd rather he not pump fake and just take the shot, regardless of whether he gets it to fall. Once he's hitting those open 3's at a good clip, then he can bait them with a pump fake before he drives and he'll have a field day. It's been clear since last season he has a decent stroke, he just needs to work on that outside shot to get it to fall a bit. If 3's aren't working out, then developing a long mid-range game like the centers and post threats of the past would be just as welcome. Makes him less predictable and infinitely more difficult to defend. As it is, most defenders know he's looking to drive or get in the post.
Oh yeah don't get me wrong, I totally agree with you. When he does hit them they're nice shots, not ugly ones. We just don't have much evidence that he can do it in volume yet, and if he can't it's no big loss, because I'm damn sure if he can't be decent from 3 then he absolutely can in the mid-range.

There is nothing wrong with it if the shot is open but it should not be the focus of his game. If he makes them it will force them to guard him and open up a ton of assist and drive opportunities.
LOL as if hes lacking in assisting and driving opportunities now he just needs PT and the ball they cant leave him open on 3 pt line because if they give him headstart hes at the rim in 2 dribbles/steps/spins even dunking it NOW!
