I have a hard time believing that kid doesn’t work hard. I would think it’s the coaching staff is trying to make him a specific type of player that isn’t playing to his strengths. It’s pretty obvious they want him to be a screener and roll man with minimal touches.
in what world is any super high BBall IQ player clueless against the zone? Sengun has worked on his foul troubles. Other than that the need works area 1,4,5 is reasonable.
Well the next time he flashes to the FT line without being told to do so against the zone will be his first. DD
Aint no way in hell I'm running my primary offense through a 2nd year projected decent starting center.. I do think when the ball gets stagnant, which unfortunately is much of the time with this scheme, giving Sengun touches should be a strong consideration.. Silas has no plan B whatsoever.. I like Sengun but the dominance talk is wayyy too premature.. He's doing just fine with the limited initiating offensive opportunities given.. A reasonable coach would let him grow into more responsibility like that and not just give it to him just because he makes a couple great passes.. Unfortunately Silas ain't even letting him grow into it.. Seems he did for a few stretches of some games last month but he went away from it for whatever reason.. That would've been a great plan B or C.. Silas refuses to adjust..
This. One of the most frustrating things for me this season is that the Rockets offense and rotations seem to have no continuity. He staggers KPJ and Jalen, then he stops. He involves Sengun in the offense, then he stops. He runs a weak side screens for shooter (Jalen got an open 3 last game off of this action), then he stops. I'm not even going to touch the defense.
I think he doesn't believe in them, he just tries them because of outside pressure, fo or media. It is consistent with what he says, 'staggering did not make a difference', 'kpj should iso more' etc.
The main point is Silas does not let sengun grow into anything. I think the main reason is it is not in his gamebook and the rest is irrelevant for him. He can dream of a center doing one fixed thing. Screen+iso, pnr, and rarely post up, which is actually the only things the whole team is doing.
THE FRONT OFFICE HAS ZERO CREDIBILITY this is the same people that think cheating/tanking is legit adam silver should investigate these clowns
Yeah, I've been trying to cut Silas some slack but some of his actions and statements make no sense to me. I'm just a Rockets fan but as an avid fan I feel like some of the decisions (or lack there of when making game time adjustments) are odd. I know we aren't about winning right now. I know this season is about developing the young players, but even with that in mind the lack of structure or teaching... I mean shouldn't a professional team know how to attack a zone? And if they didn't wouldn't last night have been an excellent teaching opportunity? But nothing, no adjustment...
