it's even more maddening when you think about that we have Jabari now as well. That's an ultimate "pick your poison" type of offensive arrangement if you give the ball to Sengun in the center of the court, Jabari sets a back-screen for Green. Defense can't take away both of those options if Jabari pops out for three.. and if they help on Green's cut then you swing the ball to the corner for a wide open 3. we literally have the perfect personell to play this scheme, especially if you consider Eason/KMJ as good cutters. Garuba can play the same sort of role as well off the bench for Sengun. Furthermore, KPJ is one of the best catch-and-shoot players statistically.... but instead we'd rather play like a watered down version of Luka's mavs. a good coach adapts his scheme to the players he has. I do not think we are doing that in this case for whatever reason (as many have wildly speculated). Sengun used as a roll-man is not good offense for anyone and the only reason it is mildly working is the talent of the players themselves. Sengun should be averaging 4-5 assists a night instead of the 2.2 he currenlty is.. which is actually DOWN from last year.
Sure. As I told you before: Whatever gets you off. As we all know, this move is worth just 2 points whereas a lob dunk is worth 7.
All true. A coach, a pg and a backup pg will do wonders for this team. Sengun was making assists from day 1, which was amazing for a 19 year old center coming into the league. And Silas decided it is not an asset to use or develop. One of the things I am most pissed at about Sengun's development.
remember we are not in win now mode, we are in development/building mode.... its a pyrrhic victory if you dont play the right way....ie give the right(PLENTY of) playing time and usage to the core players or see what you have in young prospects like eason etc
Remember that the Rockets were a contender with Kevin MAGA McHale as their coach. I do think the Rockets could improve with a better coach but what’s more important is for a young player to emerge as a star that can facilitate. All I want from Silas at this point is to put Jalen and Sengun in as many pick and rolls as possible to see if this duo has “it.” I’ve been encouraged to see Silas do that more lately and put KPJ off ball as a scorer more.
Dont give me that horseshit. You guys dont celebrate team wins. Only want to amp up Sengun to the highest level. Who needs the development more Alpy or the rest of these guys learning how to be pro's? I think EVERYONE is perfectly fine with Sengun at his current production and he will only get better. He's been a professional since what 15 years old? Sengun is an entrenched starter who gets the brunt of minutes. His impact on specific games will vary by opponent. You're just a jealous player only fan who cant be bothered to enjoy TEAM wins if your guy isnt in the spotlight. Be real.
Damn! and well said... can't see who this was directed to (can take a couple of guesses though), but well said and definitely echoes my feeling regarding player development. Sengun may not be the best player on the team (and not getting into that debate) but he is the most polished right now and closer to his best NBA self than others.
Was this on Embiid, Jokic, or Giannis? Bc that’s what we were talking about. @rocketchampsdad said was cooking those guys
At least some people see it: Better Sengun, less fun Sengun. The big markets ( LA,NY,Philly,..) love this kind of fun player, show-time player. Sengun was a joyful product and Rockets tries to make him Jonas, Zubac, Turner type of mediocre player. Shame. I don't care how many points he scores but I want him to see grab the rebs and most importantly to assist. His assist numbers should be around 8 apg. Any game he assists less than 6 is not acceptable. Sengun is a clever guy and will survive disgusting Silas days. Another 55 games, Silas gone, promising days.
