I'm not ready to make any long term assessments on anybody. But what I cannot wrap my head around is Green/Porter playing 30 minutes and Sengun getting 18. I don't think any of them should be playing 30 minutes right now, but he has inarguably been more effective than them this season. He should consistently be getting 20-25 minutes right now. Green/Porter should also be getting 20-25 minutes when they come back. Increase workload as it's earned. You can't use the "they need reps" argument for the other 2 and not Sengun.
oth i am ok with green and porter getting high minutes, we are rebuilding, but theis of all people lololol i think its a mixture of things and causes and one of the main being they rented out PT to agents representing players (some of these people have a lot of power) to give them better deals in future or whatever, so they have to play theis because perhaps the agent promised them a star player or something, perhaps they beefing or getting back on alpis agent or he plain simple didnt gave them the discount, a player they wanted or something... to think these things dont play a major role in determining PT is naive and not real world thinking @DeBeards
Scola was a good player and a decent man. Sergio Llull is a good player but a spoiled child. Everybody loves Scola where everybody hates Sergio (except the team he plays)
im double check now...and...Michael Tollem does not look like a big fish in comparison w Rich Paul's impact. anyway. edit: JG's agent aaron goodwin, his clients incl.wight Howard, Chris Webber, Damian Lillard, Gary Payton, Jason Kidd, Shareef Abdur-Rahim, Vin Baker, DeMar DeRozan, Damon Stoudamire, Todd MacCulloch, Nate Robinson, and Candace Parker. KPj's agent Sam Permut, his clients incl.: Kyrie Irving, Marcus Morris, Rudy Gay, Chris Boucher, Immanuel Quickley, Willie Cauley Stein, Trey Burke, Markieff Morris...
As Lucus said, “He still has a long way to go.” Sengun was manhandled by Mitchell Robinson last night. Maybe the back to back affected him but he just didn’t look like himself against robinson and gibson as they were very physical with him. Long way to go.
Sentgun has a problem will long athletic defenders right now. He needs two things: he needs to play at least 25 to 30 minutes a game. Also, he needs a strong outside shot at the Free Throw line and at the 3 point line. He has handles, he is quick, physical and have great balance but he needs to shoot out side like Wood. He need to be comfortable shooting from the 3 point line, There is no doubt he can handle these long athletic shot blocking defenders, but he needs to play against them more and he needs a comfortable outside shot. He cannot learn from the bench he has to play like Porter, Green and Christopher. I’m still confuse why Christopher gets a lot of minutes or Martin and Green get minutes but Silas yanks Sengun as soon as he does something wrong. Something fishy is going on
I'd agree with most of what you said except that Sengun has been more effective. He's just as flawed as Green and KPJ except his minutes reflect that and KPJ/Green are allowed to play through their mistakes. Each of the 3 has bad warts (Sengun is a foul machine and gambles too much, Jalen needs weight and is streaky, KPJ can be a headcase and gets tunnel vision) but also a really nice upside. All 3 are above average playmakers (!!!). It can't be understated how exciting that is. KPJ worries me the most of the 3 but holding out hope and that we get another top 4 pick.
"The Center for Centers Who Want To Become Unbeetabol Centers" has reopened. Effective immediately. Only Rhode Scholars: Kobe, Lebron and big Yao Dropouts: Dwight Howard, Javale Honorable mentions: Kevin Durant
Conditioning is very general. Heavy weight training is good for shooting but not for a person who is currently sharpening their shot. It’s not a positional strength thing, it’s an explosiveness thing he needs to improve mostly. He can improve his explosiveness and quickness with his first exposure to these training techniques while he’s still 19.
Sengun doesn't have the stamina yet and starts fouling after he's tired. The Athletic article shows just how much he's working off the court. His conditioning needs work, he acknowledged it too.
What is this stamina issue? I like NCAA but if you put NCAA Final Four Teams to Euroleague, Spanish, Turkish, Greek, Italian leagues all will be relegated (oops, there is no relegation in the US). How come NCAA players has no stamina problem but Sengun or Garuba has?
Because NCAA off court training is designed to prepare kids for the NBA, and also the training methods in the NBA are extremely American. It's different than Europe and even more different than Turkey. G-League is now probably the best at preparing a player for NBA practices. Those leagues you mentioned - all of them better than the NCAA, I know - but their training methods are not up to scratch and Sengun has spent over 80% of his career thus far with youth teams. His frame, flexibility, explosiveness are not where they should be for his body as a 19 year old 6'10 PF/C. He can gain quickness, explosiveness and flexibility - which is great because these are things that will rarely improve much in a player. Just want him to go from: This To something closer to: I think it would be great for his career, can do it over the next 1.5 years maybe. To be clear, I'm not talking about what would make him an All Star, I'm sure he has that in his future. I'm talking about what it would take to get into Jokic and Doncic territory impact-wise in a few years.
