We need variety. No one is saying post him up every possession. But we can do it once in a while. He's still the best passer on our team: I can't even count how many passes the team threw yesterday that got deflected...

Yet 1 and 2 in mvp voting were Jokic and Embid.. both post players.

LOL... Alpi is not Jokic and he sure as hell is no where near Embiid's talent level. Jokic is a physical specimen that can beat you inside and outside. He's not uber athletic but his outside shooting is so good that you have to respect it and opens other options for him (pass, drive...). Embiid too has better size and athleticism not to mention he can also shoot the ball from outside.

I'm nowhere near being in the trade camp, that's just crazy talk right now. Alpi is too young with too much potential to trade him so let's calm down. But he definitely needs to play smarter and with more effort than last night and it is just as crazy to see something in him that is not there. He's nowhere near Embiid or Jokic right now, when (if) he gets to that level I'd be happy to build an offense around him.

You clearly have it out for him. No where in my post did I compare him to Jokic and embid. I was just commenting on the fact that the post is not dying cuz they finished 1 and 2 in mvp voting.. I know he's not embid. But I also know he's not a finished product. He is very one dimensional now cuz he doesn't trust his outside shot. If he ever develops and trusts that Dirk fade that we saw in Euroball this summer it will open everything up for him.

As a rocket fan I hope he develops the outside shot. Then you will see his true potential. But if all the rockets want him to do is stand high post set picks he will never be a successful nba player.

Which they combine with elite shooting range, legit size, and elite defense and rim protection in Embiids case.

That's why they're MVP candidates and Domantas Sabonis is not.

If all Sengun can do is to score within 10 feet when being guarded by smaller players, he's never going to be part of a successful team, so that makes sense.

I love Al-P but he did not work on his mid range or 3 point shooting this summer. He does not have the leaping ability to post up against athletic Big Man. I do not know how Al-P works with this offense. This offense is the “Jalen Show” featuring KPJ and Jabari Smith, and also starring Gordon, Eason and Martin. It always good to have someone with post up offense on the team because it is easy offense scoring……maybe he can work with the second team unit.

The rockets value KPJ way more than Sengun. It’s obvious they do. You do have the right to disagree, though

I understand what you are saying and apologies for not addressing the point of your post. I don't have it out for Alpi, love the kids intangibles it's just there are many who are being unrealistic when it comes to where he is currently.

Jokic and Embiid are unique players physically and skill wise which enable them to fit into any system. Yes they can post up but are also able to step outside. Neither teams offense is what I would consider post heavy. Both teams can run 5-out and run quite a bit of PNR. Which is deadly with both players because they can beat you over the top as the roll man or pop for an outside shot (neither of which Alpi can do effectively right now btw). Playing in the post will always be a part of basketball, but teams aren't building their offense around low post play anymore. At least I can't think of a team that runs the majority of their plays through the low post.

It’s absolutely not obvious. They didn’t trade two first for KPJ

Yeah bc they didn’t have to trade 2 1st for him. There’s a reason why they feature KPJ way more. You can tell by the way they talk about these guys. Silas absolutely doesn’t like Sengun’s style, but is forced to try to make it work. Sengun isn’t gonna finish games for this team

Silas isn’t going to be here long term. And hopefully this stupid 5 out system is gone.

And KPJ is featured out of necessity. Green plays well in team ball

You really believe in Sengun. I can’t knock you for it bc you stand your ground on it. He deserves a chance for sure, but it’s gonna be a looooong season for him

Didn't watch the Miami preseason game, but I would guess that with Gordon and Smith out, the team reverted to a lot of one-on-one moves on offense, and there were likely less ball movement and fewer offensive sets in the starting lineup. Kind of like what happened a lot last season.

I think when the starting lineup is all together, Sengun will get more touches, and with the better spacing and ball movement, he'll look better.
