You said it. Lots of us were thinking it. I hope he’s getting the work he needs to truly take that next step. I’ve been to local rinky dink CrossFit gyms that had more going on than this place. Anyways…
Drafting Banchero would eventually push Sengun out of Houston. They are very similar skilled players who are exactly same size and are at their best in the paint.
Redundant at least. And a waste of resources. Especially if the move doubles down on already ignored area and a weeping sore - DEFENSE.
Possibly, but would you pass on Banchero at 3 or 4 to protect Sengun? I’d rather move Sengun later on if they end up not complementing each other. While your defensive concerns are valid, in essence it comes down to playing basketball with your best 5 against theirs… I’m drafting the best player regardless of fit with this rag tag current roster.
I'm hoping Sengun hits his ceiling but tbh I think he projects to be a quality bench player and wouldn't dismiss the possibility of having success with both of them on the roster.
Would probably be a 5 minute YouTube video of Banchero finishes off of Sengun passes after 10 games together.
I'd trade up. Sengun was League MVP playing with grown ass men in Europe. He is practically same age as Banchero and clearly out produced him in almost every single offensive category. Plus, unlike Banchero, Sengun is committed on defensive side and hustles his ace off on both ends of court. Tale of the Tape. Alperen Sengun Height: 6'10 Weight: 243 Wingspan: 7'0.5 Age: 19 Paolo Banchero Height: 6'10 Weight: 250 Wingspan: 7'0.5 Age: 19 https://www.tankathon.com/players/compare?players=paolo-banchero--tari-eason--alperen-sengun Per 36 prior to draft PTS Sengun 24.3 > Banchero 18.8 REB Sengun 11.2 > Banchero 8.5 AST Sengun 3.5 = Banchero 3.5 BLK Sengun 2.0 > Banchero 1.0 STL Sengun 1.7 > Banchero 1.1 TO Banchero 2.6 > Sengun 3.1 FG% Sengun .632 > Banchero .478 3P% Banchero .200 > Sengun .338 FT% Sengun .794 > Banchero .729 TS% Sengun .685 > Banchero .557 EFG% Sengun .641 > Banchero .520 3PA Rate Banchero .253 > Sengun .088 FTA Rate Sengun .612 > Banchero .366
My issue with Banchero is that I believe Sengun is better than Banchero and that that will remain the case.
Sengun is indeed a great player, Banchero is as well. What I'm not following is the assumption that they wouldn't play well together.
Hopefully this us just him playing around with a buddy and some 10 lb dumbbells and not any sort of real representation of his off-season regimen I don't know if I would do that deal but I do generally agree with the tweet. You need to be at least average to above average defensively if you're a big where as you can just hide a perimeter player on the worst perimeter guy. The big will be in all the PnR actions and needs to protect the rim.
