granger would be best,km trade him.why the trade with s got most vote?we dont need him.we have scola, hill, hayes, yao and lottery.
I happen to like the fact that you are a smartass. Let's consider for a moment what you have just said - that having Yao or Hill or (fill in the blank_________) playing the post makes this team a serious contender. Now, if you are the opposing team, name the one player on said Rockets team that scares you. Name the one player you have to account for in order to defeat the Rockets. Is it Martin? Brooks? Yao? A player to be named later? You see, this was the justification 5 years ago that led to the Rockets contributing generously to the MeMac personal fortune. To me that trade was a tacit admission that Yao alone wasn't enough - that they needed someone who could score and put this team on his back and carry them to a title. In hindsight, they should have traded for the real Kobe and not the cheap knock-off they got from Orlando. And if Yao wasn't enough back then when he was relatively healthy, what makes you believe that he can be so now after all of his injuries? Consider the NBA Finals going on now. You say Lakers and the names Kobe and maybe Gasol stand out. You say Celtics and the names Pierce, Rondo, Allen and to a lesser extent KG come to mind. You say Rockets and... what? And that's the problem Morey faces. Oh, he can go out and try to get Bosh or Jefferson or whatever NBA body that has a pulse but until he finds a player or two like the above, the Rockets will always be on the outside looking in.
I am miserable because I'm stuck up here in Dallas having to watch a totally clueless (and arrogant to boot) Mark Cuban pretend to know something about professional basketball. But you are right: having $18,000,000 on the books is one thing BUT knowing what to do with it is an entirely different matter. After all, look at how much money they sent MeMac's way for those thrilling playoff victories er appearances. That was money well spent all right.
Let me clarify that i never said Hill would be a threat because i don't see Hill as a center. I meant centers like Shaq, Dalembert, even Thabeet would have helped us if he were playing like he did after his D-LEAGUE stint. Hill, Bosh you know people like that are PF's. Also, you being in Dallas, you should know what i mean. The Rockets last year, without their star went 2-2 with the Mavs, who had all their stars. They went either 2-0 or 4-0(i'm not sure)against OK City, beat the Lakers once and countless other accomplishments to finish the season at 42-40. To me that says(in a whisper) "Just Add Star, Will Win".
I think teams absolutely have to account for Yao on the offensive end of the floor. There are a lot of fans that dislike Yao for whatever reason, but the dude can score. They added Tmac because you need someone that can score from the outside to prevent teams from sagging down to the post. When the Rocks had Dream in 94, Vmax was playing at a high level, not all star but near that level, and they had Elie and Cassel. They had wing scoring all over the place. When they added Drexler look at what they did in the playoffs, once they got accustom to each other. I think that was the idea behind adding Tmac. The way the team is set up now, it reminds me of the 94 team in some ways. Kmart is a near all star, Brooks is a near all star, and if they can add a guy like a Bosh they the overall talent base is strong enough to contend. I know Yao isn't in Dream's league but if you add a talent like a Bosh (or another talented all start level player) that would make up for the difference between Yao and Dream. This is just my opinion, but I don't think we are that far away, especially if we can add a stud this off season.
I don't really see Hill as amounting to much more than an overpaid bench player. I just threw his name into the mix because so many folks around here seem to feel that he is a legitimate option. I also think that you are reading too much into the fact that they managed to eak out 1 additional win over 41 eve given what transpired last season. Adding a "star player would definitely improve their fortunes but will that in and of itself be enough to enable them to break through? I just don't think so. At best, I feel that all it will do is to elevate them to Utah's or Dallas' level: a good team during the season but one that is found lacking come playoff time. To win and win big, they would have to be considered an elite team and I just don't believe - given what's going to be out there - that they have a legitimate shot at landing one of the elite players who'll be available this summer.
Thats so true. People are trying to compare what yao/bosh can do with what hakeem could do as a player. Hakeem was the alpha/ass kicker. He had doubles to he was blue in the face and even then that didn't help. He didn'tbow to pressure, he created pressure against the opposing team. He was a run stopper and run starter. I've seen him go on 10-0 runs himself in the 4th quarter. The rockets are in a bad spot right now, people are just afraid to admit.
OMG Lee, how can you say that after seeing what the Rockets have done over the past 2 seasons? Did you know until last week that the Rockets were the only team to take the Lakers to 7 games in the playoffs. Four of those were without Yao. I have already mentioned what they did this past season without Yao. There is nothing that says to me that they will not do better this season. Leebigez and Hillboy, guys come on, why so negative? You mean to tell me that not one of you is excited about next season? You should be because the Rockets are going to be in the finals next season, mark my words.
I think I fuked up BAD making this thread. Im starting to think we might get Bosh after all. I have been collecting clues, and Im a conspiracy person and I think stars are aligning to get him . Heres what Ive learned : 1.Amare is going to sign with Miami straight out. No sign and trade. He lives there,he loves it there, he is getting his knee examined right now at the same clinic Heat players go, Insiders on both sides are saying regardless that Wade wants Bosh, Riley wants Amare, and so its practically a done deal. 2.That leaves bulls, lakers, houston, knicks. Being that Heat will have Wade/Amare/Beasley/Haywood/chalmers I dont think Bosh wants to compete with that, and he cant in Knicks. Knicks are SO bad that Bosh there will be a drop in the bucket. Wont win. 3.Bulls,Looking more and more likely Lebron signs there. But, we can beat any sign and trade offer of Bulls, and, even though Bosh and Lebron would win championships, and be a better team than Houston, DOES Bosh want to join Bulls/Lebron to take his best friend Wade out of finals every year? Wade would never reach finals again if there is a lebron/bosh team in east. Bosh and Wade are best buds. Dont see it happening. 4.That leads me to Lakers. And conspiracy theory.. There was such a HUGE uproar when Lakers got Pau for practically nothing. The league and Stern want to make fans happy, and negate the growing sentiment that the league is rigged toward Lakers/Kobe. Does league allow the championship Lakers receive the BEST FA big man for an injured Bynum? Thats Pau/grizzlys trade all over again. That would make every team in the league want to just quit since lakers always have the upper hand. It would literally ruin the west. The league to be successful needs many markets winning and happy, a monarchy Lakers would prevent that. 5.That leads to Rockets. If my 1-4 clues are right, we get Bosh. We by far have the best deal. Bosh wouldnt pay state taxes,he loved the China visit during olympics, he would be the second best team automatically in west behind lakers(maybe better than lakers), he is now working out with Hakeem, his twitter said he recently watched Dazed and Confused. At the end of that movie they goto Houston. Big clue. Then the same day on twitter, he said he met the smartest 8 year old ever, and mentioned a chinese war hero, and guess what , last name has ming in it.(big clue) Im really starting to think Im going to get seriously bashed when we get Bosh. So I want to go on record now, Im starting to think if Amare goes to Miami, we have the inside track to Bosh.
Taking a team to 7 games in the second round vs being a contender is different. 3 yrs ago the hawks took the celtics to 7 games in the first round and they wern't even .500. The lakers are known for taking games off. I'm not saying they didn't show up, I'm saying in the regular season they beat the rockets by an average of 13ppg and in the playoffs, every game won was a blowout for the most part. Taking the eventual chams to 7 games mean nothing to me. Brian chapman, you clues are about as worthless as a $3 bill. If la wanted bosh and bosh wants la and toronto wants bynum to move bargiani back to pf, stern will do no such thing as block the trade. Why would he do that when La is the most recognized franchise in the nba, they get great ratings and they made the smart move vs sitting on their hands?
Not you too, Lee! Please say it isn't so? Not you too. I have been having this discussion with a few people. You mean to tell me, if Yao Ming would not have gotten hurt, Houston still would have lost? Is that what you're saying Lee? Because if that is what you are saying, then you would be wrong my friend. Houston had L.A. right where we wanted them. If Yao wouldn't have gotten hurt, we would have been champs. I will even go this far, if we would have made that Iggy and Dalembert trade during the deadline, we would be playing Boston right now. We've had a contention ready team for the past 3 seasons. We were just stuck with a couple of busted up stars. All i'm saying is, for them to have done that to the eventual champs says a whole lot more than nothing.
