Jeffries, Andersen, Taylor, 14th pick for Brand and 2nd Battier, Hill, Hayes, 2nd pick, future Knicks pick for Jefferson, rights to Rubio, and 4th Draft either Favors or Cousins. Yao, Cousins Jefferson, Scola, Brand Ariza, Buddinger Martin, , Buddinger, MLE Brooks, Lowry, Rubio 2011 Front-court is a mixture of old, new, and prime players. Yao can be limited at first with Jefferson filling in at C. Cousins looks to be able to contribute early. I am a little worried about this groups quickness, but Yao and Scola were essentially all we had against the Blazers in the playoffs last year, and we did ok there. We would have the opportunity to absolutely dominate the boards. Scoco could form the best back up front court in the league. Brand will be our new and improved (and expensive) whipping boy. Ariza, Martin, and Buddinger should be able to hold the fort at the 2/3 with occasional usage of Brooks as a two. MLE can also be used to help these positions. Brooks and Lowry are great at PG, and will give us the option of bringing Rubio in slowly next year. Surely he'll come over to play for us after we win the 2011 Championship.
I gave you a bit of a hard time last year, but you are spot on with this post. Bosh has never expressed any real interest in playing for the Rockets. Best to focus on what is possible.
I like this for Plan B. Especially since this Plan B is likely to actually make Plan A more feasible.
If Plan B fails, what's next? WHAT'S NEXT I ASK YOU? Hasn't BP disaster taught the Geek anythings??????????????? Morey is UNPREPARED!
If it were me, this is what I would do. Go get Al jefferson. If I'm thinking this thing through and the rockets are going to keep yao in their plans, he makes the most sense to me. Early on, yao will be limited to 20-25 mins a night. A quality backup center goes for mle money like gortat. Jefferson fits the bill of a high quality backup. When yao goes out, he slides over. The team maintains a post presence offensive and defensively. What would it take to get him? They can choose between Jeffries or battier and between hill or chase. Whomever they choose will dictate what the rockets should do in the draft. Best case scenerio is they take jeffries and battier and a pick of some kind, maybe even this years 14 if they take those 2. Making a move like this might spell the end of scola which wouldn't be the best of things. Yao and Al have had injury problems, but scola is too good of a player to come off the bench. He would be great at depth, but there might another market for him. It would benefit the rockets if they moved scola so hill can develop at the 4 spot. Yao-Jefferson-Hill at the 4/5 spot would be pretty good going forward if they can all stay healthy. The rockets could add another vet like mbenga, fasenko, or josh powell as quality depth. That would be my plan if it were me.
Michael Peitrus (spelling error, I think) from the Magic would be great for us also... We need all the shooters and slashers we can get to help RAs offense when Yao comes back to form.
If the Rockets are in the market for Spanish guys drafted by the NBA but don't want to come over... then what about this lotto pick who has blossomed into a defensive monster in Europe?
I'm coming in way late on this thread but does Amare have any desire to play in Houston? Weren't the reports around the last trade deadline saying we didn't make a move for him b/c he refused to sign an extension here?
Classic! The answer to your question was we almost had Stoudemire, but there was something about a physical, which was obviously not necessary. There was also some talk of him might not wanting to sign here.
Yes. And Jonathan Feigan confirmed it. That's why I don't understand why people keeping bringing him up. NEWSFLASH: Amare does not want to come to Houston!
