Thank you herro. Finally someone who agrees that this draft is the way to go, not free agency. Forget about all those max guys. The draft is how we are going to win for the next few years. If they decide to get a free agent, then let it be J. Johnson. That way we would could still get the 24th pick. Of course, i do not expect all of my scenarios to get done. Like i said earlier, it would be great to only get 2-3 scenarios done. We should be able to get #12, #16 and #24 without giving up #14.
Plan B: Try and get a player they like in the draft, see if a trade opens up for a big they really like. If nothing else when the big names decide where they want to go there will be trades, Morey probably can piggyback one of those to get another player he likes on the cheap.
Just...dumb. There are a huge problems with your scenario. First, no GM in their right mind would ever do this, and Morey is smarter than most other GM's. Four first round draft picks? This is not baseball. Draft picks after say, #5 are just a crapshoot. And why would we want to run a virtual college team out there? Second, you have to look at this from the other teams point of view. Why would they give up their draft picks for the peanuts you are suggesting? Third, you left Kevin Martin out. He wasn't in your trade scenario, or your proposed roster. He will be a big part of this season whether he's used as a trade piece or as our starting SG.
I haven't heard anyone talk about Lull being special. As for Jefferson, I looked at the numbers a while back. Whatever you think about him from a rebounding, shot-blocking, and defensive sense, Bosh is worse. Hopefully, then, you've been against Bosh all along.
The support for Amare makes me frown. He can't defend the P&R, he takes games off, he doesn't rebound well, he's had microfracture surgery, and he will want the max. Can we grab a pass card?
OK, yes i forgot to add Martin, but that goes without saying that he is going to be here. There are always going to be holes in someones theory, ecspecially when they are going off of rumors alone. It is a known fact that Memphis needs a PG(Brooks+ future pick). Minny needs a SG(BUD+ future pick) and ATL. needs SF and PF(Ariza & Jeffries + future pick). As far as rumors go, you've heard the one about G. State. So as you can see we would only be giving up 2 core players(Brooks and Ariza) and 2 bench players(Bud and Jeffries). Having 4 first round picks is not going to hurt the team at all. You would still have your veteran core. I admit, yes it is a dreamy, but more realistic than convincing diva Bosh to come here after not having us on his so-called list.
Your scenarios were really awful. Brooks + future pick for a #12 selection? I'm not buying good enough reefer.
If Bosh isn't coming here and we don't move up in the draft, I think we are standing pat until at least the trade deadline. By that time, we'll know more about where Yao is at. Granger would cost nearly every tradeable asset we have if we want to hold on to Brooks and Martin. He's not in the same boat as the free agents that will be signed and traded. Other than that, there's not a lot that appeals to me. If we make a big splash to move up in the draft, I'll trust Morey and be excited about who we get.
You smoke reefer? No wonder you disagree! Seriously as i have mentioned before, losing Brooks would noy hurt this team. Lowry could start at PG. Don't get me wrong, i like all of the players we have on our team, but this is a business and thats how it goes sometimes. It is always team first with me. Any move that makes the team better, i'm all for it. Now would be a good time to move Brooks because of his value to other teams. Memphis needs a PG, so they would probably jump at the opportunity.
No. In you're plan B we have the Chuck Wagon, a D-League superstar but NBA scrub because he cant go to the left, and David Andersen AKA Aussie Softie. You would trade Brooks and a future pick for the #12 when we have the #14?
Wow HERRO , i don't get it. This morning you were like "Morey should fleece the draft" and now you're like.....different. What happened in the span of 6 hrs?
Really? Coming off the ACL injury last season he averaged 9.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocked shots in 32 minutes per game. In the previous three seasons before the ACL tear he averaged 11 rebounds and 1.5 blocks per game (to go with 21 points). At his young age (25) we can expect him to return to close to or very close to pre-AcL injury numbers but even if he doesn't he is still an 18/9 guy who gives you a block and a half per game. Oh, and he played 76 games last season and a full 82 games the season before the ACL tear.
LMAO hahahaa repped. And what he said. Im all for speculating but this is just a buncha never gonna happen.
