Wait a minute.. is.. is THAT why I like Chinese food so much?? J/K I would seriously love to see that security video put up on Youtube, as someone else posted. But I am more disturbed by the fact that someone actually went to the extra effort to take a dump on the floor.. you don't do that by accident, someone had to very specifically go to great trouble to manage that. Did you or someone else at your shop really piss someone off lately or something? Not blaming you, just wondering if maybe there has been something going on where someone is insanely angry at you or the shop??
You act like you just met Gran Torino or something. It wasn't even convincingly deliberate, and that's by your description.
The problem with those Asian dry cleaners is that you get your clothes cleaned there, and two hours later, they're dirty again.
I think that's really weird...you don't make a joke like that and come back to eat food from the person you pissed off...either he's extremely stupid or he was just confused. Maybe he planned on dropping off laundry and getting food also, but had a brain fart when he got to the counter and mixed up seeing where he was and what he had in his head (dropping off laundry).
The place has seating for 35 people and the kitchen covers the entire width of the restaurant and is right in your face as you walk through the door. The entire place smells of food and there are menu boards all over the walls. You'd have to be completely out of it to mistake it for a dry cleaners just because there's an Asian guy at the counter. Granted, he did go all in by actually dumping his clothing on the counter, so I'll give it 1% that he really didn't know where he was. This is in Long Island, NY btw, and yes he was white.
also weird that he was making the joke to an audience of only himself. maybe he's doing a research project on reactions to racism or something.
Oh, he was white? nevermind. Oh, you're in NY? nevermind. Yeah, I'd think he'd have to be pretty "out of it" to think it was funny... and actually having the laundry doesn't seem like "all in" so much as "all not paying attention" but... I certainly wasn't there. Still seems like an itchy spitting finger.
it just seems like a stretch that he would go through the trouble of taking clothes into the restaurant just to vaguely insult you. maybe he was just a moron or trying to make a tasteless joke.
If he was really wanting to make a racist joke, it seems there would be more direct ways of doing it than an ambiguous reference to asians working as dry cleaners... plus he had no audience to laugh with... plus he placed an order for food which suggests he had a couple things on his list and could have mixed them up... plus he said "sorry" and actually did leave... plus he returned and I'm assuming he actually ate the food. I'd say you're oversensitive - and seemingly 'looking' to be offended. But I wasn't there so I might be wrong. I'm just going by your story.
I just took a look at the video. From the time the guy pulled up in front of the restaurant, to when I turn my head back towards the counter (I was on the phone taking an order at the time), the guy spent a good 5 seconds looking at the menuboards. I shoulda gotten my passive-aggressive swerve on and spit in his food
I think he really was on his way to the dry cleaner and saw an opportunity to make a joke when he saw an Asian dude behind the counter of a burger place.
Maybe you should start a Dry Cleaners/ Restaurant. You could be on to something here, but put a no pooping on floor sign in the bathroom. That's gross.
That seems like a lot of preparation to do to make a dumb joke to a complete stranger for no apparent reason. He was probably just very absent-minded. Not exactly a stretch in today's smart phone/social media world. People are so consumed with their phones they hardly know where they are half the time. I was doing a gig at some country club in Texarkana one time and as I was loading my gear afterwards, some douche gave me his parking ticket thinking I was the valet. I just kept his ticket, finished loading my gear and left. Dude is probably still there waiting for me to bring him his car...
maybe he was just making a joke to explain why he had clothes in his hands...after all, t is odd to walk into a restaurant with a hand full of clothes...dont you think?
