I think Philly made out alright. They are admitting they are in rebuilding mode -they will suck the rest of this year and get a good draft pick and still have 2 other first rounders.

I think it made sense for both teams.

i wonder if denver were holding out a draft pick or two before the suspensions.

The trade will work out fine if Melo and AI both attack the rim like they are capable of. If they both settle for outside jumpers then there could be some cold nights up in the rocky mountains.

After this trade though Denver is still in the lower half of the WC, and still behind Houston if the Rockets can get their health in order, that's 'if'.

Even though the Nuggets defense will make them susceptible in the playoffs I guarantee you that seeds 1-4 want to avoid AI/Melo in a series for as long as possible.

Damn, I was just beginning to "celebrate" Melo's 15-game suspension.

The good news is all those T-Mac for AI trade (not that I am for or against it) threads can be gone for good in GARM.

i'd rather EXTEND juwan howard then do anything close to touching kenyon martin and that contract. he's not playing till what next year? even when he does play he's mediocre at best.

denver's salary situation is insane but no one's helping them out by taking nene or martin off their hands. the team they have is the team they're gonna have to go with. it should be pretty fun to watch though.

Makes sense. What if we offered them two expiring contracts and OUR first rounder (which will be crap, but still)?

The way it would work is:

    Bob Sura
An expiring contract acquired from a 3rd team via our trade exception
    Scott Padgett
    Our first rounder

for Andre Miller and Stephen Hunter.

Actually give them cap space this summer doesn't it?

This gives them lots of money to work with and 4 draft picks. Theirs will be top 3, Warriors will be top 15, and the other two will be in the mid to late 20's.

Nice position to be in for rebuilding.

I think Denver overpaid, but time will tell.

Also, didn't George Karl and KMart fight over the fact that, due to his bum knee, KMart didn't want to practice hard?

I wonder how George will take to AI's practice issues.

Iverson's stock was pretty low after all...

Though 2 first rounders helps them for the future.

Denvor may solved the short term problem by getting AI to take the scoring load from suspended Melo and JR. But long term? They don't gain extra possesions by replacing Miller with AI anyway. Their offense efficiency may go up a bit but their defense will be weaker. Hard to see right now until it's all played out.

You're assuming that the Rockets had an interest in Iverson and I don't think they ever did. Allen Iverson can only be fully effective for a handful of teams (Suns, Denver, Golden State). He doesn't play defense so he couldn't play for a team like Spurs or Rockets

    Shiat, Denver got lucky.

Well, we will see how AI and Melo balance their shot attempts. Right now they dont scare me that much.

You want KMart's 50 games per season + attitude problem + MAX CONTRACT ? I'm sure Denvor would like to that.

How do you think this impact how the Rockets play them? I don't see any kind of a change. Smith is really the only good 3 pt shooter on the squad, the way to deal with them is still (as Van Gundy has always done) pack the hell out of the paint and dare them to beat the Rockets with jumpers.

Wow. Big news. I'm an Andre Miller fan since his days in Cleveland. But I'm also surprised this is the best Philly could get. I guess the skepticism about AI's chemistry made it more difficult. Carmelo/AI could be a monster duo or just the superstar version of Francis/Marbury.

Does the east have any chance of winning the All-Star game? I mean AI, Kobe, T-Mac, Garnett, and Yao. Who can even come close???

Anyone thinks Larry Brown returns George Karl a favor by telling Billy King to pull the trigger faster? LB is consulting Billy King for the AI trade.
