Iverson isnt broke because someone in his close circle was smart enough to set up a long term bond that he cant touch. He still gets about 1 million annually so he is still very well off..
I'm sure that divorce costed him an arm and a leg. I still don't understand why the woman gets half his fortune. She didn't earn anything. He was born with a gift, not her. There should be a cap on how much one can take in a divorce.
Frankly, if you blew $150m and don't even have $1m left, how is anyone going to feel bad for you? Always have a backup plan. Always always have a backup plan.
It says as much in that Washington Post article too, page 2 So he's still got $30 mil waiting on him. The thread title is still true, Iverson is on rough times (unnecessarily).
Great read. Sad to see how sports athletes go broke like this. They really have no one but themselves to blame for the way they spend and live their lives.
Don't feel too bad for him, in addition to his annual salary, he has a $30 million trust fund that kicks in when he turns 55. He should thank his agent, his financial planners, and his previous employers that they are watching his back. http://www.celebritynetworth.com/ar...ebok-trust-fund-that-he-cant-touch-till-2030/
