If she is telling the truth, she did not get herself into this. Kobe did, by getting himself into her without her consent.
We should be very glad that she didn“t decide to not tell anyone because of "what she would get herself into".

A point to be considered, especially by the Bare Bryant camp, is this scenario: Suppose the chief witness for the prosecution feels so stigmatized that she commits suicide.

Bryant's people are harping on reports she has attempted it not once but twice. Well, if she were successful, the tide against Bryant would be insurmountable, even for his attorneys.

Regardless of the verdict, he would bear that cross until the day he dies. Not only would advertisers avoid him but also fans everywhere would ride him without mercy. He would never be voted into the hall of fame. That's if he were found innocent. If he were found guilty, he would get maximum jail time.

If I were his on his defense team, I would not push her toward that end. Seriously.

Did anyone watch Countdown with Keith Olberman last night? He slammed the radio DJ who put the accusers name on the air. Apparently that DJ has been arrested for spousal abuse. He slammed his wife's face through glass and told her that he would kill her. The guy eventually worked out a deal, where he could fulfill some requirements and get it taken off of his record.

Keith also slammed Sean Hannity who reported a false rumor that the accuser was involved in another sexual assault case at the hotel. It turns out that Fox's Hannity reported that, and it was totally untrue. There was another worker who was involved in a different case, and Bryant's accuser was not involved at all.

It was pretty funny to see Keith make no bones about slamming these guys.

I (not a lawyer) believe recent court rulings have held that if she showed up at his door stark naked and said she just wanted to talk, that is not grounds for sexual assault. When she says 'NO' he had better stop that instant or he's guilty of sexual assault.

BTW: Sexual Assault and Rape may not be the same under Colorado Criminal Code. Anyone out Know for sure ?

The third degree sexual assault charge placed on Kobe is equivalent to rape.

I care, only because Kobe is presented as a pristine choir boy and I don't like being lied to. Obviously if he's out screwing 19 year olds while his wife his home taking care of their 7-month old baby, he's not exactly the model person he's made out to be. Kobe's a phony and always has been. End of story.

Consider this, if Kobe said or did things in the courting process that can be interpreted either way and the girl took it the wrong way, or after the event, decided to take the negative spin of Kobe's behavior, wouldn't it open up another perspective on the case? Lying or misinterpretation, the difference between is significant.

It's possible that the suicide attempts can be used as evidence if it's portrayed by Kobe's lawyers as a thing she does to make her men feel guilty about dumping her. They could then argue that she's using a rape accusation in a similar way. Her ex-boyfriend said she called him right before the OD on 5/30. Perhaps it was to make him feel guilty? If so, he'll be a defense witness.

I think it is important to know that this girl attempted suicide on 2/25 and again on 5/30 (1 month from the alleged incident). Two suicide attempts in 3 months suggests a person who's not emotionally stable and possibly someone who's out of touch with reality. There are also reports of 2 visits by Eagle Police to her house in 2003. I'd be interested to know what the other one was for.
