I think that the Republicans also have the issue of columns, identical to the ones at government buildings all across Washington and the rest of America, that look too Greek and elitist. That's the biggest issue facing the the average American. Vote McCain, he's against Greek columns that aren't really Greek columns.
What a pathetic attempt at a thread. First of all you've got a thread title that is grammatically hideous and has a misspelled word. Then you've got an original post that is two lines long and probably took 10 seconds to compose. Pgabs, for the sake of the integrity of this BBS, could you please extend to us the same courtesy that most thread starters extend to you? -- that of putting some actual thought and time into a thread and adding to the quality of the BBS? This is just embarrassing and it cheapens the entire BBS. Step it up and quit being so lazy.
With a heavily Democrat Congress, they might be. McCain could very well be a lame duck on Day One. But with Obama, taxes will go up. And not just federal income tax. All taxes(including windfall profit taxes on oil companies which will end up hurting Americans in the end). The energy crisis could very well continue and get even worse since the Dems will have little motivation to do anything about it. Pelosi won't even allow a vote on drilling. I can't see that changing if she gets an additional 30 seats added to her majority. Obama is on record as not wanting to drill and is opposed to nuclear and coal. Which makes me wonder where the hell we're gonna get our energy from(and no, we cannot power this country on wind and solar alone). As far as spending, both parties are guilty of letting this get out of hand. But McCain hasn't received earmarks and his reason for opposing the Bush tax cuts earlier this decade was because he wanted spending kept in check. So he has a solid record in this area. Obama wants a global poverty fund created with taxpayer dollars. So Lord knows what else he's gonna spend our money on.
WHICH HE PROMPTLY REVERSED HIMSELF ON IN THE FACE OF RECORD DEFICITS AND FISCAL SHORTFALLS WHICH HE PROMPTLY REVERSED HIMSELF ON IN THE FACE OF RECORD DEFICITS AND FISCAL SHORTFALLS WHICH HE PROMPTLY REVERSED HIMSELF ON IN THE FACE OF RECORD DEFICITS AND FISCAL SHORTFALLS doesn't give you pause though - no it's just a "solid record".
I don't think it has anything to do with congress. Taxes will go up for a rather select group of people who, frankly, can afford it. Comprehensive energy plan = more drilling? lol. More drilling is a just a pathetic little stopgap. Talk to me when McCain comes out and gives a plan for oil independence in 10 years. Yup - it's a waste of resources. That's not what I've heard from his plan or his speech last night. Read his plan. And actually, studies have shown that North Dakota alone could power most of the US via wind energy. O RLY? Baloney. If the choice is global poverty or Iraq (red herring) - I'll take global poverty. **** Iraq.
I'm curious why you say that. Is it because you think that the oil companies will have less money because of the tax and then raise gas prices? Given that the oil companies now are making record profits, and they aren't passing it on to the consumers I don't see the connection you seem to be making. Oil companies haven't responded by having excesses of cash by lowering the price of gas and oil.
