if you're referring to pts allowed per game and using it as your support, your support is very inadequate a we're just 8-9 games into the season. our defense was horrible in some games, and that's not even applying jvg's standards.

Haha! Didn't watch the gmae today then I take it. Or any other game this season.

Back to the OP, I agree mostly with the intent. Some of the game threads are are unreadable. I don't even bother anymore, which is a shame.

As to all the trade whoever threads, I've got used to that already over the last couple of years I've been on here.

We're #4 by defensive efficiency rating. We've had a few games where we've shutdown the opponent. And we've had a few games where we have shut down an opponent during key periods in games.

Overall we have played good defense the first 10 games in.

I thought a fairweather fan was only there to jump on the team's jock/bandwagon when they were good? Maybe you mean foulweather fans.

I've already clarified my position on this after the Suns win, but I'll sum it up again. After the Lakers game the toughness of T-Mac and Yao, which have heretofore been questioned by many on this board before me, finally came into question in my own mind, and has not been answered in the three games since.

I will always root for our team, but I distrust the ability of Yao and T-Mac to perform when the other team plays rough and the refs hold their whistles. The guys Morey has brought in around them--Landry, Scola, Brooks, Artest, Battier to an extent, and just through Hayes in there to be thorough--those are warriors; those are guys you can go to war with. But Yao, and T-Mac...the image of bitter-beer face, when those guys think they got fouled and just stand there with their hands in the air while their man is on the other side of the court hitting an easy lay-up, that will be engrained in my mind until we finally win in the playoffs with them.

Until then, my expectations for this season have been toned down considerably from what they were right after we got Artest.

There isn't really a websters dictionary definition of a fairweather fan. But in my opinion a fairweather fan is essentially a fan who cheers for the team only when they are winning. When they are losing they stop watching. I get pissed when they lose too, but its one thing to get mad, and its another to go completely overboard and declare that Tmac/Yao/Artest have gone downhill and we have no hope to accomplish anything this season. It kind of pisses me off when someone completely bashes our players when they lose, and then does a complete 180 when they win.

Its one thing when its a guy like Rafer Alston who is always a sub 40% shooter and people bash him for that. But Tmac isn't going to go the whole season averaging 20% from the field and niether is Yao or Artest, yet every time we lose a game a thread pops up "YAO IS DONE!" or "TMAC IS FINISHED!" or "TRADE TMAC/YAO THEY ARE USELESS". I'm ****ing tired of seeing a guy post a thread like that, only to turn around and jump on their nuts when they put up 30 the next game.

The frustration sets in that much quicker when the expectations are higher. Like if you have two kids, one of which you know is smart and the other you know doesn't have the sense to get out of the rain. Your smart kid brings home a B and you talk to em about getting an A. Your dumb kid gets a D and you throw em a party.

This team should not have lost several of the games they've lost just on talent alone. They still have to find the chemistry and get Shane back to beat the good teams. They'll be fine as long as TMac gets to playing some team ball.

Actually, I been watching EVERY SINGLE Game they played except for the game yesterday vs the hornets. I got tired of watching McGrady choke every other game.

Tracy Shoothappy is already held under 10 points for more than 3 games already into this season!!!! Thats pretty pathetic...

I hear you, kirb. I touched on the same thing in the "10 reasons" thread. It seems that some fans only want to support the team when it's doing well. When they hit rough patches, everyone jumps off the bandwagon. What kind of fans are those? You're supposed to support the team through thick and thin. And I complain just as much as the next fan. I don't want the team to play mediocre ball. But there's a difference between complaining and giving up. This board can do without all the knee-jerk, trade so-and-so and fire so-and-so threads after every loss. Just my two cents.

when you have 1.5 billions fans around the world, you are going to get a couple of maniacs. But the fairwheather fans don't even post on message boards. They carefully wait for the right moment to purchase their rockets gear.

But Examine the losses. Lakers, Celtics, Trailblazers and Spurs. Out of the 4, really only the Spurs loss is the only one that I'm pissed that we actually lost. We actually came back and made the blazers game interesting and would've won it if not for a miraculous/questionable Roy shot. I'll take the losses against the Lakers and Celtics.

And we have just as many wins against good teams as we do flops against bad teams. Really the wins against good teams is more important because you face good teams in the playoffs.

I'm glad the Rockets won, but was a knee-jerk thread like this really necessary?

    Sorry not buying it

-trade T-Mac for Larry Hughes and Drew Gooden
-trade Rafer and Scola for Antione Walker
    -trade Battier for Jason Terry
    -trade Hayes for Brevin Knight
    -trade Yao for Rasheed Wallace
-start Steve Francis even though he had 10 good minutes total of basketball in the past 3 years
-fire Adelman and hire the top vote getters in a Clutchfans poll among members

I don't think the Rockets really have any fairweather fans...

Unless the 22 win streak picked them up... Or the Artest acquisition...

It's not like we've gone to the WCFinals the last five years or something.

The weather hasn't been fair enough to warrant Rockets palability to the fairweather fan.
